me checking the dislike ratio on my new story

Glad to know bigotry is still alive and well in this fandom.

It's glad to see some of us didn't watch the same series as I did.

    So where I've been

Okay, uh... how do I begin this? Well, I suppose I should start with the obvious. Yes, I've been distracted. If you follow me on Archive that should be obvious. And if you don't, you totally should btw. Yes, I'm shameless.

Theorizing on: Molt Down · 4:27pm May 20th, 2018

Okay, fair warning here, if you don't want spoilers, you can just skip on over this blog post as I will be taking a stab at some theories for the next episode.

Now, the official synopsis: Spike struggles with a series of bizarre symptoms that Smolder explains is something all dragons go through in adolescence — "the molt". To Spike's horror, Smolder also reveals an unfortunate molt side-effect that compels a molter's family to kick them out of the house!

Now, granted, one might thing Spike should know better as Smolder's far from someone like Garble but I actually think there might be some sound basis to this if Spike believes her. And it all comes down to psychology. Recall the Season 3 opener with the Crystal Empire. Specifically, the point where Spike opens the door inside Sombra's castle. We don't really see what he sees, but we do know from what he says Twilight basically found him useless and kicked him out.

Now I wonder, could these fears still be lingering on, deep down inside? It's entirely possible, despite how much time's passed, Spike still believes there may come a day when Twilight doesn't need him anymore, and that's quite possibly entirely why he may believe Smolder. Plus, when you add in the fact that he's never known his real parents... Granted, I may be wrong, but still, it's probably the reason in my mind or at least part of it.

You'll just have to watch and find out bud.

I hate to say this but later in the season a dragon claiming to be Spike’s father is going to be appearing. I think your belief is well founded.

We don't really see what he sees, but we do know from what he says Twilight basically found him useless and kicked him out.

We don't know why he feared Twilight kicking him out in the Sombra-induced nightmare. He never says.

This could be another "lack of communication" episode where he just doesn't bother to ask Twily. As Nugget said below, we'll just haveta wait and see.

You do know the episode was leaked, so... you can watch it now
