One day Rainbow Dash flies to Sweet Apple Acres for some cider and sees that the apple family is not at home. Outside of the barn, there is an unattended barrel of delicious Apple Cider. She makes sure nobody is looking and drinks that barrel dry. But she will soon learn that drinking too much will have some "consequences."

Fluttershy's home is known to be a bastion for homeless animals with no place to go. So, when a stray cat shows up at her door, Fluttershy feels obligated to care for her.

Except the cat isn't a cat at all.

This story is a sequel to Lyra's Big Idea

It was the day all three of them had been looking forward to their entire lives, the fateful day when their cutie marks would finally appear. And one day, during the summer hiatus, that day finally arrived for one of them. Would this occasion be the celebration they were hoping for? Or would it be the beginning of the end?

Rainbow Dash's dream has come true, and she's been accepted for training at Wonderbolt Academy. All she needs to do is fill out a few forms, get fitted for a uniform, and get vaccinated for Feather Flu.

That last one might be a bit of a problem.

Most pegasi figure out flying easily enough. Heck, most of them figure out how to do it before they even get their cutie marks.

But not me. I couldn’t do it, no matter how hard I tried. I couldn’t even hover. Not for more than a few seconds, anyway. And not even Rainbow Dash, the greatest flier in Equestria, could seem to help me. We tried everything, and I failed every time. Day after day, I tried – and day after day, I failed, until finally I was ready to just give up. I’d never be able to do it. Nopony would ever be able to help me to fly...

...until one day, somepony did.

I wish I could see you smile again.

Ever since it went away, the pony I once knew seemed to disappear as well.

At times, it makes me wonder if anything matters anymore.

It makes me wonder if I still matter to you anymore...

Twilight and Rainbow Dash come to a crossroads in their relationship as they look to the future. But with as bleak and depressing as it seems, what really is the point? Perhaps love does conquer all...
