Which for Smolder, that alone is bad enough. Crawling into bed with Gallus while she's sleepwalking though...that's a whole other level of awkward.

Every night, as the land slips beneath the gloaming, Smolder tries to steal a treasure she knows she cannot hold.

Every night, she invites Ocellus to witness the attempt.

Instincts are a powerful thing. For dragons, they're even stronger than most. Ocellus knows this. But when Smolder's instincts drive her into a hoarding frenzy, she's the one who must find a way to reach past those instincts and get through to Smolder herself, as well as discover a few things about herself along the way. Even if everyone knows the one thing you should never do is go into a dragon's lair.

Even if it's made of pillows.

Gallus wants to ask Silverstream to the Amity Ball their sophomore year without embarrassing the both of them to death. Silverstream wants that, too, but neither of them has any idea how to even talk about what they want without causing the aforementioned death by embarrassment.

Fortunately, the Spirit of the Tree of Harmony wants to help. Though "fortunately" might be the wrong word...

My entry in Miller Minus's Young Six Story Contest, this story got first place! And much thanks to Pascoite for giving it a good going-over beforehand.

After the fiasco of last year’s Hearth Warming Tree, the Student Six are determined to have a multicultural Hearth’s Warming, where everycreature contributes a tradition of their own. For five of them, that’s no problem. For Gallus . . . complaining about the food and barely tolerating everyone’s company isn’t a very good tradition.

Gallus wants to ask Silverstream out to lunch. One problem, he's really bad at opening up about his feelings. So, he tells a fib to deflect from his true intentions, and things just escalate from there.

Smolder has a thing for Ocellus. She has had it for a long time, but each time she is given the opportunity to profess her feelings, she chickens out and swears next time will be the one. Hopefully this one will be the one.

After all, it has been years since they last spoke, and they are not getting any younger.
