Princess Celestia is an ageless, immortal being. Almost entirely unique except for her sister Luna, and she was gone for a thousand years. One would assume that no other pony in the entire world could possibly be able to truly relate. One would be wrong. There is one other. He's no all-powerful alicorn. His greatest power is his intelligence. He comes and goes at will, but always seems to be there during her worst moment. Sometimes he has a different face. Once he was a unicorn. And at times, it seems she meets him out of order. But he's a fantastic friend. Simply fantastic.

*Note: Even more than "A Friend of the Night" this story is going to be more along the lines of a series of interconnected short stories. Some chapters might end up being a bit short as a result.*

Weak, desperate and with only a dozen changelings to her name, Queen Chrysalis resorts to summoning one of the most obscure creatures in mythology; a human.

I'm sorry I haven't written in a while. Things seem to be falling through the cracks lately. Spike thinks I should go see the doctor, but...

Across the ancient lands of Equestria, the harbinger of an eternal threat echos through to threaten civilization once again. Desperately seeking the peace that it has craved for since the dawn of time, the three realms send for their generation's elements of harmony, ponies of valor who make the ultimate sacrifice in order to keep the peace.

In the dignified Republic of Solaris, through miraculous fate, the ever humble and reliable Rainbow Dash finds herself chosen as one of the elements that will one day save all of Equestria. Unable to deny or run from her duty, the pegasi abides to the task and begins the trek to the holy realms in order to insure that the Spirit of Chaos remains unable to return.

However, pilgrimages to the holy realms are seldom undertaken without changing a pony, and after a chance encounter during her journey to destiny, Rainbow Dash starts to learn what Loyalty and Friendship really mean.

No pony is the same after witnessing a work-related death, no matter who they are. The victim was young, eager, fresh-faced, and recently hired. In his last breaths, he let out a scream so heart-rending that the employees who heard it had difficulty sleeping that night. And Rainbow Dash was no exception.

But she's not losing sleep over that. What disturbs her is something far worse—something she said afterwards.
