It's been fifty years since Rainbow Dash first performed the rainboom, and she's slowly slipping over the hill. She's slowing down, sliding off her game. As the younger generation steps up, breaks her records, and makes rainbooms of their own, she contemplates her history in the world of speedsters and her importance to it.

Garble has won the Gauntlet of Fire and taken the Bloodstone Scepter. Upon hearing of this, Celestia, determined to stop the bloodthirsty Dragon Lord in his tracks, challenges him to a one-on-one duel for the fate of Equestria and the Dragonlands. An immortal alicorn capable of moving the sun with millennia of experience under her belt versus a teenaged dragon with no experience at all.

Garble accepts.

But Twilight herself knows that there is one pony who, despite not being an alicorn, has managed to successfully hold her own against her. So, despite years of friendship between them, Twilight decides that it's time she and her first student finally settle the question of who is truly the top mage.

Shortly after her coronation as the new Princess of Equestria, Twilight is visited by a creature she never expected to see in person. What's even more unexpected than the identity of this petitioner, though, is his reason for coming.

Celestia does not think that is fair, but she has a plan. If she turns evil and her sister saves the day, then ponies will give Luna all the love and attention she deserves!
