For Discord, causing chaos is not a hobby or even his job. It is what he does. So when Tirek offered him an excuse to cut loose from harmony and friendship, only to be rebuffed, Discord went against his very nature. For a spirit like him, this is similar to willingly poisoning himself.

Discord has lived for quite a long time. Centuries as a ruler, a millennium as a rock, years as a reformed draconequus, it all gets very tiring. A nap is exactly what he needs. But when you live forever, time loses its meaning, years pass in the blink of an eye, mortals come and go like mayflies. And that's fine.
After all, any being that is truly important will live forever. Discord would never associate with anything less.

You'd think that being trapped in stone would mean that, if nothing else, I could get some peace and quiet. Unfortunately, it seems that Celestia has other ideas.

She has appointed these ponies... these 'Keepers', as she calls them, to keep me entertained during my incarceration.

Honestly? I'd prefer the boredom.

Discord's powers were always a mystery. I'm pretty sure not even he understands how it works sometimes. But there was a time where he not only didn't have powers, but life was easier for him without them. At least, that's what he thinks he remembers.

Discord has failed to break the friendship between the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. Desperate and with a rainbow of friendship blasting towards him, he teleports himself to a future where the Elements of Harmony are no more so that he could trade places with his future counterpart.

What he didn't know was that in this future, he has been reformed and the ponies there think he's somehow lost his memory and are determined to refriend him. Gag!

Meanwhile, the reformed Discord is teleported to the past, facing very hostile ponies and a world of Chaos his past counterpart had created. Chaos is a wonderful thing and he was all up for having some fun but what was the point if he had nopony to share it with?

Do you ever regret things you did in the past? Whether it was accidentally insulting someone, or waging war against a concept with chocolate rain and licorice trees? Well, Discord doesn’t “regret” it, but he can admit he made a mistake or two.

But his past certainly disagrees.

Discord was born from the voids of chaos, and on one Hearths Warming Eve, the young lord of chaos was given to the princesses Celestia and Luna to raise as their child. The two sisters must learn to cope with the baby draconequus and his antics as he drives the two crazy! Luckily they aren't alone in raising the child, as Princess Cadance becomes the royal babysitter for a while. But when she leaves to become the Princess of the Crystal Empire, Fluttershy takes the reigns as the new Royal Babysitter. Also, when Flurry Heart is born, Discord becomes an older brother to the filly. As the saying goes, "it takes a village to raise a child." But for the ponies of Equestria, it will take a kingdom to raise a draconequus
