Ultimately however, it was no threat that brought about the planet's end. It was no threat at all.

Amid the ruins of ponykind's greatest achievements, and in the middle of a century once promised to be so very great, the last surviving stallion attempts to recollect his thoughts, while struggling to keep his sanity firmly in check.

Then Nightmare Moon looked out upon the land that would soon be her empire, and found a world she no longer existed in. In a thousand years, she had been all but forgotten.
She could conquer, and continue to be hated. She could put aside her pride, and be redundant. Or, she could disappear, and fade into the glorious night.

A new dictator has come out from the shadows and taken hold of a nearby settlement, making it her little kingdom. She holds it with an iron hoof and ruins the lives of those poor ponies and other creatures living there. I am sending you and your friends there to stop this mare and bring an end to her tyranny and drag her kicking and screaming to Canterlot, where she can face justice.

You know that moment when your friend that doesn't really speak Equestrian too well, tries to translate you a funny joke from his original language, so you don't really get it but laugh anyway?

Well, that's what kinda happened to me, except my friend was also known as N̤̱̗̙̓ͤ̾̚ȏ͙͍̳̻͙̮̊̋r̈̈́̄̊r̀͏̮̩a̩͇̰͈̘̞̝͌̀k͎͈͎̱ͣ̌̂̄͐̈ẻͥ̀̐ͫr̜̥̥̟͙̹ͧ̏͗̊̇̚͠, Great Deity of Death and Destruction and that his joke was the impending doom of the world.

Yeah, this kind of things happens all the time, to me at least...

To Twilight Sparkle and Princess Celestia, it is a simple surprise visit to Canterlot.
