Ever since the city was buried all those centuries and millennia ago, creatures have ventured across the scorching sands to discover relics and treasure long since lost. Generations of adventurers and archaeologists have trekked and dug through mountains of yellow-brown sand, hounded by the blazing sun and ever scarce water supplies. With the return of the ‘Pillars of Old Equestria’, however, recent information about the ancient world has come to light. Eager to capitalise on the discovery, Daring Do has fore fronted an expedition to uncover an ancient monument, inviting Rainbow Dash to accompany her on this journey of discovery. However, this journey will become quite literal for the prismatic pegasus, taking her to a place both alien and familiar…

Taken for a creature from the Everfree Forest, she’s adopted by Twilight and her friends as they show her friendship and compassion, doing their best to help her restore her missing memories.

Twilight and Princess Peach are having themselves a princess vacation in a faraway land, starting in the ragged port city, Rougeport. They find a mysterious treasure map given to them by a mysterious trader, and not wanting to leave their friends out on discovering something exciting, they deliver letters to both Mario and Twilight's friends in Equestria, detailing their findings along with sending the map to the heroic plumber in red, and the gang set off to Rougeport to join the two princesses.

A far more dangerous game is afoot than Bowser's almost successful attempt months prior with the power of the Star Rod. A new enemy stands in their way, wanting to discover what lies beneath the port city, and they will do anything to open what is known as the legendary One Thousand Year Door. Not only that, but they have also managed to kidnap both Peach and Twilight, taking them hostage while the leader of this new group plans to uncover what secrets are hidden beyond this millennial doorway. Will Mario and co. be able to surpass this new foe and claim the treasure for themselves, or is there something far more sinister lurking deep below the land that could wreak havoc on the world?

Six months ago, the world humanity knew had been irrevocably shattered in a way they would never have imagined. ETS -- Equine Transformation Syndrome -- had arrived, a powerful transformation spell attached to an otherwise ordinary flu virus. Only with the assistance of Equestria in the form of Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer had ETS been stopped from transforming all of humanity into ponies.

Humanity had been saved, but at a cost. Hundreds of millions of humans had been fully transformed into ponies, and many did not want to go back. The United States was hit especially hard, with over a quarter of its population as ponies. Friction between humans and ponies, Earth and Equestria, has been growing. Families torn apart by ETS had yet to reconcile.

The collision of worlds that the pandemic had brought had only just begun.

Lazy Pines is a small town in the high country of Colorado, easily overshadowed by the bigger sights to see along Colorado State 9. When influenza strikes the town hard, it is little more than a statistical blip in a typical flu season. No one thinks any more of it as the initial wave of infection passes ... until the other symptoms begin to manifest.

Meanwhile, during what should have been a routine trip to Canterlot, Twilight Sparkle stumbles upon a strange anomaly which turns into an all-consuming mystery. As she discovers the complex web of magic stubbornly maintaining this mystery's secrets, she grows worried what it could mean for herself and her family.

And as the residents of Lazy Pines struggle to understand -- or even believe -- what is happening to them, two worlds have irrevocably been set on a direct collision course.
