Loganberry

I write stories. They tend to have ponies in. I also run the Louder Yay blog, including Ponyfic Roundup. Reviews of my fics, good or bad, always welcome.

    The Danger Within is out

It's been far too long since I last published anything (late February, in fact!), so here's a real live new story from me. Placeholder title image for now; it will probably be changed at a later date:

    TThe Danger Within
A magical accident at a castle garden party leaves Fancy Pants, Rarity and Fluttershy apparently alone in the middle of... somewhere. But where, and how will they make it home?

It's been far too long since I published anything. This will change. I'm now intending to go ahead with the block-breaker adventure before too much longer. Don't expect anything remotely special -- it is a block-breaker after all, so just getting stuff out there will be the main priority -- but as one possible point of interest, this story will have a main protagonist who is a canon

    I really mustn't do this

Every so often, I get curious and read all through multiple posts by people who feel that FiM is now a bad show, or at least far worse than it used to be. (No, PP, not just yours.) I generally end up feeling like I'm some sort of idiot and/or heretic for still enjoying it greatly. Because I do, and I'm not ashamed to say that. I probably should be, but stuff it. Like I said, I shouldn't do

    Writing will happen, eventually

I certainly haven't given up writing ponyfic, and nor have I lost my motivation to write it -- I've just been stupidly busy for quite some while. If things go well, I may be able to get a short story out before Hearth's Warming. We'll see. But I still have plenty of ideas I'd like to get into print!

    S7E25&26: "Shadow Play"

Look, I don't care, all right? I'll fret about how the Pillars might change the show's dynamics later. Right now, I just have a warm fuzzy glow from seeing the Mane Six use the Elements again. Everything else is secondary. I'm so happy. ★★★★★

Ponyfic Roundup reviews summary, #136 to #140 · 1:33am Jan 12th, 2017

Previous: 1-10 | 11-20 | 21-30 | 31-40 | 41-50 | 51-60 | 61-70 | 71-80 | 81-90 | 91-100 | 101-110 | 111-120 | 121-130 | 131-135

As Louder Yay's Ponyfic Roundup (PR) has reached its 140th edition, it's time for another summary of my fanfic reviews to be posted here. As always, these will consist of three things: first, a subheading with the number (and name, if any) of the PR in question, linked to the relevant edition on Louder Yay; second, a list of stories (linked to their Fimfiction page); and third, their star rating from one to five. Not the full text teviews, though: you'll have to go to Louder Yay to read those!

In this set of reviews, I give some deserved love to Best Filly by awarding her an edition of her very own. Other stories reviewed in this batch include out.of.character., The Keepers of Discord and Bitter-Sweetie. One story I haven't mentioned by name here gets my only five-star rating this time around. I'll end with another reminder that Mature-rated stories link to the author rather than the story itself; this is done in order to comply with Fimfiction rules.

Not so sure I agree with your review of "The Keepers of Discord," but to each reviewer their own, I guess.

Actually, you're allowed to link to Mature stories as long as they're on Fimfiction.

4379669 In which direction? Do you like it more than I do, or less? Always interesting to hear such things! I liked the story a fair bit (three stars on my scale means good, not average) but felt there were a couple of things that stopped it quite being a classic.

4379995 Not for what I'm doing, you can't. The rules state that: "You may link to Mature-rated stories hosted on Fimfiction in a blogpost only if the blog is tagged with a Mature-rated story." So if I wrote an M-rated fic of my own, made a post about it and tagged it in the post, that would be allowed. But you can't link directly to untagged M-rated stories, so I don't.

I liked it more than it seems you did.

I did not find Discord out of character like you did. And I found the second chapter a rather necessary ending. The epilogue, however, I can agree with you on.

4380159 I didn't find Discord's characterisation bad as such, just not quite as spot-on as I'd expect from a very good writer like Hoopy McGee. The second chapter? That's just personal preference, I think. Anyway, thanks! Interesting.
