In preparation for the big tag update, I've been working on some sexy looking tag pages which you can go have a look at right now:

In the future this will have sections for related series and such too.
It's pretty cool if I may say so. Lots of characters are missing images and descriptions still, they'll be coming soon. Soon Fimfiction will be the ultimate MLP wiki! Muahahaha...eh, probably not...
I've also rebuilt the entire backend for story searching which makes it way easier for us to add things like those story lists on the tag page, but it means there could be some bugs introduced. Ideally there should be zero visible difference to you guys.
As far as the process of tagging actually goes, things are a bit slow because I have spent months thinking about how I want tags to work. I have a couple of clear aims but existing tagging solutions leave a lot to be desired in my opinion. We want to handle shipping/crossovers in an elegant manner and this makes things a bit more complex. I've started nailing it down more in my head, but satisfying everyone while maintaining a simple UI for search and tagging as well as the social problems of tagging will take some time.
We need a Mystery genre tag.

Oh, that's a nifty idea! Are 'related characters' going to listed on each page based on their 'in show' relationship, or some kind of metric based on how often those characters are featured in stories together on the site?

Looks good. You should consider doing 6 recent stories and 6 top rated stories rather than 3, because on narrow screens those lists will drop down to 2 columns.

Any chance at all we can get an Equestria Girls tag at some point, Knighty? It's hard as balls to find something within the EqGverse right now, because the Human tag encompasses a tonne of non-EqG stuff as well. Like, most of the stuff in the Human tag is not-EqG related.

Also, a question, is it possible to somehow search and find all the stories that I have finished reading? I just want to keep track of them, I even made a "Finished" bookshelf specifically for that purpose, but I'm not sure I remembered to add all the stories that read to it.
Why? Well, sometimes I randomly remember some awesome passage from a story I read in the past and fell like reading it again...
3055002 Agreed, it's difficult to look for EqG stuff amidst all the Human.
I also think another tag we could use is Drama, right now the closest we have is Slice of Life, but that's a very broad scope while Drama, as I see it used on fanfiction sites, is for stories with focus on a dramatic narrative.

3055027 He was super enthusiastic about it actually. We're friends :P Everything is sourced, but I'll be trying to contact all the artists to let them know anyway. I've never had a single no in the past though for banners since we drive a lot of traffic to artists.
