No, I don't. I live in England, and my iPad screwed me over completely. In future, save these blog posts for 5PM British Time or later, when everyone's had the chance to see the episode...
It's not as bad as it could've been, but oh boy did the new writers mess up. Not only was this episode way too comedic, but the song was a complete rip off of "Art of The Dress". Definitely not a good sign, let's hope things pick back up next week.
Basically a love letter to Season 1. "Remember that time"s, a flashback chandelier, and the plot of "Suited for Success." At least the ponies recognized the problem before it got out of hand this time.
I kinda feel like they went overboard with the self-referencing in this episode. A little is okay, but a vast amount of the episode felt like the characters just reminding us what their quirks are, instead of, y'know, being those characters.
If it's one thing that we can learn from today's episode, "Castle, Sweet Castle", it's this: "It matters not what kind of home we live in. It is the good memories shared between our friends which makes us feel more at home."
I eagerly look forward to (no wait, that's the wrong phrase, let's go with dread) the countless reviews that insist the obvious answer was books in spite of the episode clearly stating that the castle already had an entire library full of them.
Plus, you know, the cartloads of them that were delivered in Rainbow Rocks,
This is just a feeling but I'm wondering if the Chandelier of Memory might turn out to have some greaer role, possibly in the finale. That aside, it might be interesting if the castle merges with the remains of the Library and starts to take on a more organic aspect.
Overall, the episode was good and I think that the writing team deserve an award for resolving the central issue in an unexpected way.
"You can sit on a sofa, and you can sit on a bed. You can sleep on a bed, and you can sleep on a sofa. Both of them are fancy cushions, elevated off the ground in some way, right? When you get right down to it, a bed is just specific type of sofa! ... And while you're here, can I interest you in some quills?"
2972031 I'm reminded of "Trade Ya", where Twi almost gave away all her old books just because she'd already read them. She only kept them because Pinkie reminded her of the memories associated with them.
And then all those specific books blew up with the library.
Twi loves learning, but she's less sentimental about books themselves than the fandom makes her out to be.
I still think the castle was a stupid idea. The library was just so perfect! The big thing I'm noting is the color change. In the first two seasons, the setting was always in warm colors. Cool colors were only used as accents and did a wonderful job of putting the focus on the ponies, because most of them are cool colors. The show felt all cozy and well--warm with the warm colors. But Twilight's castle is all dark cool colors made out of crystals! It gives a cold and damp feeling, and looks more like a cave than a home. It's dark and dreary, and I can't blame Twilight at all for avoiding it. Were I making a crystal castle, I would make it more geometric and smooth, while giving the cool colored crystals a warm inner glow, like Elsa's castle in Frozen. a.dilcdn.com/bl/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2014/07/frozen_elsa_castle_pink_sad.jpg Since it's a tree maybe draw some inspiration from Avatar to make it look more organic: media.santabanta.com/newsite/newsmaker/images/Starlight-Avatar.jpg I'd also go for more oranges and yellows than the reds in these pictures, possibly only using the reds as highlights to tie together the purple crystal with the yellow glow.
Honestly, since Lauren Faust left it's like nobody on the art team has any taste at all! The only way they could make it worse would be if Rarity started making cheetah print dresses!
It's only just begun?
...I almost didn't realize today was Saturday already.
Anyone else else like Twi's current "frazzled" look? I'd think that with a bit more tweaking, it'd make for a nice hairstyle.
Started watching it and first thought is "Oh boy, this is not going to end well"

Oh my god, Angry fuzzy Angel was hilarious. And Rarity's nose wiggle. And Spike's Rarity doll.
And oh god, Bulk Biceps works at the spa?!!! Aaaaaaaah!!!
I fucking died when Bulk Biceps stole Spike. And Spike's finally getting an actual bed?!

Maybe even top 1.
Am I the only one?
This... okay, this was hilarious, no doubt about it. But quite touching at the same time.

Please, babies are horrible sleepers.
It was a good episode. 8/10.

"I know, let's get books! Books books books books books books books books!"
... No books.
Well played, team.
Basically a love letter to Season 1. "Remember that time"s, a flashback chandelier, and the plot of "Suited for Success." At least the ponies recognized the problem before it got out of hand this time.
Also, Davenport now carries beds. Sellout.
I'll admit, that last scene brought a tear to my eye.
/the feels!
2971802 I think this is the first time they have had lines in the show?
Fluttershy owns stuffed animals?
Well, my mind's gone to dark places.
God dammit.
2971831
What episode were you watching? Because I didn't feel that way at all.
Bulk Biceps works at the spa. Aloe speaks. The Golden Oak library's name is canonized.
I approve.
Why did Rainbow get rid of the portrait?! Aaaaaaaaaaah!

Pinkie was best for me.

Like Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3, but with home decor!

"It matters not what kind of home we live in. It is the good memories shared between our friends which makes us feel more at home."
2971815 Is it perhaps due to the fact that dragons love caves?
2971844
They've spoken before, or at least Lotus did, in the poison joke episode.
Awsome season so far. Love everything about it.
2971847 Dammit, Derp.

2971956
Ah, yes, you're both right. I agree though, their accents are way different.

I thought all of the character banter was brilliant, personally.
it was ok not exactly what I expected but the spa scene was good.
Very heartwarming episode.
