I think this might be the most fun Andrea Libeman has had voicing Fluttershy. And it's tied to an actually solid episode, which is doubly great!
Anything else I can say about this one, I already said on my blog, so I'll keep this brief. I'm usually not one for Freaky Friday shenanigans (I don't know; something about that particular trope rubs me the wrong way), but my word, this episode pulled it off expertly. Again, I think it all boils down to Andrea Libeman's enthusiasm. Her voicing of Angel was just a delight.
Going into this episode, Angel Bunny was never one of my favorite characters given his bratty, self-absorbed nature. True, some episodes tried to prove he 'does' care for Fluttershy and he does look out for her, but there are some moments in the show that truly ruined it for me (That one 'Putting Your Hoof Down' episode made my views of Angel quite clear). Then comes this episode which to me is like 'Freaky Friday' in under 22 minutes, a story where the bond between Fluttershy and Angel is strained while an outside source attempts to mend their bond by helping them see their struggles through each other's eyes. I'll admit the bits where they are in each other's bodies are funny, especially the whole 'I Want To Marry Discord' line that came out of nowhere (For me, I thought Angel only said that because Fluttershy was spending more time with Discord than himself). While it seemed this episode was to change Angel Bunny's perspective on how hard Fluttershy has it and that he can always talk to other creatures, it was also a means for Fluttershy to understand Angel.
We often wondered how the stress of running both a school, eventually ruling Equestria, and all the while running their own jobs would have an effect on some ponies and Fluttershy is a prime example of all the time she puts in but never enough for her own things. True Fluttershy has the gift to speak the languages of all creatures, hence why Angel Bunny feels she's the only pony he can talk to, yet Fluttershy was always just assuming Angel just wants everything to be on him like a cat who wants their owner to spend more time with them than their families. But the moment Fluttershy was in Angel's body and tried to fix a seemingly mistake by Zecora's part, she couldn't communicate with some of her friends due to not being able to talk, danger loomed around every corner, and she nearly passed out from exhaustion due to how strenuous Angel's life must be knowing it's a constant race for survival. In the end when all seemed lost, when Angel unintentionally ruined Fluttershy's sanctuary and Fluttershy was on the verge of not waking up, both realized how hard both have it and must make amends to have a better friendship. I wouldn't say this episode was 'perfect' by any means, but for me it has it's own charm, some moments were fun to watch, and in some ways this episode was something Fluttershy needed as much as Angel did.
Although, if she ever heard Angel say through herself about 'marrying Discord' I among many would assume she'd freak out.
I really feel like Fluttershy got a raw deal from the switch. Even if we've never seen his early life, I'm pretty sure Angel never had to go through the Everfree alone. Not to mention almost getting her livelihood and reputation ruined (all of which Angel was basically shrugging off until he saw the state she was in), and for what? To show us that Angel hasn't really changed much?
I do like this episode, it was constantly fun, Zecora is always a good thing and Sandra is the most precious beast that Flutters has ever cared for. I just think it was too unfair on her to be properly balanced. 12th of 18 at this point, but still above the bar for breaking the good episode streak.

I'm guessing that biology works differently in Equestria because there's no way that putting all those carnivores on a vegetarian diet should have worked, and there's no way that a licensed veterinarian would have been okay with it. Just saying.

5118443 It's worth noting that the animals don't seem to be able to understand one another, either, given that Fluttershy needs to translate between them -- first when she relayed their various statements to each other at the meeting, and then when she translated for Angel at the end.
The carnivores all going meat-free did bug me, I've gotta say. On that note, one thing I just plain find puzzling is Antoine's snake treats explicitly being vegan, rather than just plain vegetarian -- we know that ponies have no objections to eating eggs and drinking milk, for instance, and I would have assumed that using non-meat animal products would have been an obvious way of keeping the carnivores fed.
Episode was fun... Though: The Vegan animals thing was clear and obvious projection from writers who do not in fact understand how animal diets work, and should be kept as far away from animals as physically possible. Its presence in the episode will be strictly ignored.
Also, Zecora earned a Dope Slap for what she did to the two, especially towards the end, obviously knowing that the bunny was Fluttershy and letting her go BACK through the forest and it's carnivorous perils.

I really just have a very big issue when the show itself brings that kind of shit into the show as references, and although some references like Fallout Equestria in Season 5 finale was awesome, stuff like ships aren't so awesome and all that does is enable the people who create clop and porn of those ships to do it more since it made its way into the show. This stuff needs to be kept separated as the show is ultimately a kids show that is meant for a younger audiences, and most of us adults need to respect that and for me it's important that the show remains to be a safe and good product for those younger audiences to watch, meaning most of what comes from this website should never be crossed over into the show.
It's been a while since we had a good episode. This one was pretty good. It had a few inconsequential details in it that are objectionable (vegan carnivores) but at the very least Fluttershy felt in-character, Angel felt very in-character even in Fluttershy's body, and making some amount of sense of their often abusive-seeming relationship was a good idea. This is the sort of episode that I wish they'd tried making a lot sooner, instead of always repeating the "Fluttershy is afraid of everything" story over and over.

Canines and bears are the ones most adaptable, but wolves are predominantly obligate carnivores who cannot survive solely on plant materials. It hurt what was otherwise a decent enough episode, especially coming from Fluttershy who we've already seen giving fish to otters and so forth. She should know better.
I think a better way to make it work would have been to present some other pony trying to force the issue, and Fluttershy trying to make it work despite knowing it wouldn't... kind of a lesson that you don't have to take advice that you know to be wrong simply to make someone happy at the expense of many others. Buuuuut… that would run contrary to so many agendas.
