1. Have more than two days pass and give enough time for a letter to reach Ponyville and Twilight mention it to the Princess(es).
2. Have Death suggest James head to Canterlot, due to the fact that Sarah is there and she could help him a bit in training.
1731457 Dean probably wouldn't want to bother himself with it. Sarah, while maybe not liking the idea of training James, would want excuse to beat the shit out of him. The two are pretty much exact opposites, so putting them together in that sort of situation would be too good to pass up. Also, I think Serpenti has Dean doing other things at the moment.
