(With all do respect, my only gripe with this comment is with the first part.) Yes, materializes is the best word. Want to know why? It's called comedy, Pinkie pie just popping into existence out of thin air is very Pinkie Pie. Also what you said. "imagery is quite... strange." Wow I mean you are so right I don't know how else you could imagine someone materializing in front of you. (Sarcasm) I dont know gang but that first one seemed like you where reaching for something that was in fact not even there in the first place.
