At Twilight Sparkle's end, she faces one last monster. With a fraction of her magic and a fraction of her strength, she must prevail as she always has.

Anthroquestria yaaaaay! Gimme a break, it's easier to write fight scenes for humanoids.

Partially inspired by The Last Days of Animal Man. More obviously inspired by Fimfiction's long history of stories about Twilight outliving her friends, which I've always called 'I'm Immortal And Sad' stories in my head. I wanted to write a subversion.

What is that thing in the cover art?

A fascinating twilight for Twilight. My only note is that you could have slipped in the hammerspace effect at some point early in the conversation with Celestia to establish its existence. Aside from that, this is equal parts celebration of the character and exploration of an alternate route. Starlight, for one, doesn't appear to have ever been a factor, for good or for ill. Cozy Glow was obviously never an issue without the necessary environment to grow such a devastating power base. The question of Tirek remains unresolved.

Of course, addressing every difference between timelines would rob the story of its tight focus. Again, very nice work. Thank you for it... though I do have to wonder how anyone's going to get the princesses out of those cocoons.

Shit. Knew there was a chekovs gun I forgot. Since this was originally a very different story, in my head I conflated the teleportation spell I mentioned earlier on and the hammerspace spell. It really would have been the same effect, but for some reason I didn't go that route.

usually when I hear about an "immortal and sad" subversion, it's twilight being happy about her immortality. but here she's just mortal! couldn't have done it better myself. shoutout celestia for still not giving her a choice in this universe either
