Discombobulated Soul

As a writer, my expansive vocabulary and thorough knowledge of grammar are my only saving graces. Please help, the world is too vorticose and gyratory!

Usually, the remarkably few orphanages that dot Equestria only hold onto their young inhabitants for a few weeks, perhaps months at most.

That isn't the case for Bright Wish, who has lived in one of Trottingham's many such buildings for far too long. Maybe his faked happy attitude is too obvious, or his disfigurement too appalling. There are plenty of explanations he's come up with over the years.

Tonight, after his most recent blunder, the colt has resolved to find the answer to this plight.

Even though he isn't at all prepared to face it.

Very emotive work and story arc. I feel the ending does slightly suffer from the limit. Nonetheless, excellent work.

I will note I'm disappointed that, for the detail of his eye and being unwanted, it's left an inconclusive and unsatisfying resolution.

My bad eye, you see, is a passageway. When somepony looks into it, they become fully immersed in my deepest feelings. They witness for themselves just how torn up, how broken I am inside. I can play pretend and act along all I like, but that traitorous, vestigial sac always shows what's really happening behind the scenes. My scars and debilitating injuries may have healed years ago, but they still plainly tell everypony who cares to look just how damaged I am within.

oof, that is a heavy thing to carry around for a child, any child :(

"...I don't know. You're such a darling, and I--" She chokes and can't finish, instead breaking into tears.

and aww, of course it wouldn’t be an unbearable painful situation for only Bright Wish. how awful for them both.

thank you for writing!

Eyepatch. Get the colt an eyepatch. Yes, this is a touching bit of quiet tragedy, flimsy facades, and waning hope, but most of it can be resolved with an eyepatch. (At the very least, it will remove the obvious excuse most couples will have.) This might be a shallow read on my part, but it still feels like setting up Bright Wish to fail with the bad eye out for all to see. Still, thank you for the entry.
