This story was beautiful. I feel like the potential for Sunny stories that “Ali-Conned” presented isn’t appreciated enough, and it astounds me that episode even received some hate in the first place. As a follow-up to the episode, this was excellent. I can honestly relate to fics where the main character (in this case being Sunny) has to stand up to bullies like the Filly Four. I’ve had my fair share of fake friends back in my early school days, many of them who only kissed up to me because I was in the Special Ed classes like then. But once I transitioned into more general education around the 4th grade, I remember that quite a couple of them stopped reaching out and cut contact with my family and I. So I can totally relate to Zipp’s experiences here, as it’s something I myself went through. I also feel for what Sunny went through, both in this story and the episode. I found her struggles very relatable to me and I dare say the conflict presented about her alicornhood is a perfect follow up to her arc in the movie.
You managed to tell this story extremely well and connect these two in a way that I don’t even think either show has at this point. It’s a constant back and forth dynamic when it comes to them, but not enough moments where they just talk and comfort one another like this. The conversation they had at the beginning (minus a slightly abrupt transition to the main topic on Zipp’s part) came off as very genuine and real, and makes me want to see more stuff with them like this. It’s been a long journey, but I’m glad you were finally able to release this. I even feel honored that my story was able to help you finish yours as I didn’t expect that before you first told me. I’m happy that I was able to inspire you to finish this story as it turned out awesome. Great job!

Jokes aside, I absolutely love how the Filly Three disappear the moment Zipp shows up. I definitely sense the chemistry between Sunny and Zipp, and I hope you make more stories with these two.
Reading this made me realize just how well you write Zipp. She is definitely the kind of person who would annoy you a lot, yet you'd definitely come to appreciate having her around.

Thanks. My comments have been getting some downvotes as of late, both on my own blog posts, stories, and story feedback. I question whether it is because of how heavily involved I've become in Fimfiction affairs (particularly around the G5 circle) that I may have made some enemies, or something else entirely.
All I was doing was giving feedback on the story, so I am quite perplexed as to why people are taking issue with my post.

I have about five alternate accounts still active that I don’t use for anything except for voting on stories if I think it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. In this case, I didn’t want your story to be downvoted to oblivion for no reason, so I helped out. No idea why people were hating on it as all the others have been getting near universal acclaim.

Yeah, this is a very accurate portrayal of someone finally reaching the breaking point. Sunny tries to do her best for her community only to be ignored by superficial flankholes. "Ali-Conned" still stings and I'm surprised there aren't more fics about it.
I really appreciate the parallel you made between Sunny and Zipp about the false friends they make who only hang with them for their status. I feel like those two don't really get interactions together. This would be an interesting way for their dynamic to go in the future.

The Zipp Saga didn’t have this problem, but my DawnStorm stories did too. So that’s really the best explanation I got. Goes to show some how some people are I guess.

I'd like to say it is a fantastic piece of work. The conversation between Sunny and Zipp is very heart-rending, and I can feel the overwhelming emotion when reading it. I was truly moved. Sunny deserves a true friend like Zipp,and this article deserves more upvotes.
