I haven't, but a country cover of a rap song (or vice versa) wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. While not to my taste, the lines about country-rap were just me attempting to be funny. I don't get it, personally, but on the flip side, I can also say the 1980s called and wants my playlist back.
On a side note, looking up Joe Nichols' discography has resulted him getting a nod in either the next chapter of 16 or the Act II chapter for the same pony. Thank you!
This made me a little nostalgic for my early 30s, doing karaoke every Tuesday night with my then-girlfriend. You nailed the mood and setting, and particulars of some of the songs. Does my wife have the lyrics to We Didn’t Start the Fire memorized? Yes, yes she does.

This fic is surprisingly based on actual events. Even the ponies chosen to feature in this story are included because they were really there. I didn't go there with the intention of turning it into a story, but once it was pointed out to me that G3 ponies were hiding among the decor, the idea came and I realized I had to do it. Because of covid, it had been a long time since I'd last gone out for karaoke prior to the night that inspired this story, and I was thrilled to go again for the first time in years. If you & your wife haven't been out for karaoke in a while, I hope you get a chance to go soon!

I can't really argue that, but as these are self-inserts, I think that might be a little too self-indulgent. That said, I'll think about it. I've never been much of a romance writer, but there's definitely chemistry between them and it's the next logical step. It's that or the 'they're too oblivious to know they're perfect for one another' routine (think Who's The Boss). In the meantime, what happens out of story is completely up to the readers. I have no objections to this ship.
As for an early-morning car ride heart to heart, that sounds like a great idea for a fic! Thanks for the suggestion!

Glad I could give some inspiration! As for being “too self-indulgent”, sometimes it’s honestly fun to say “screw it” and just see how far you could take it! I love all these stories though, probably cause I’m also a car guy haha. Gotta love Mustangs
