Yup, I know what this is like. I have my birthday literally two days before Christmas (Dec. 23); doesn't exactly bode well for celebrating it with your friends. In a non-pandemic year, they're likely out of town visiting their family.

Got any special plans to celebrate? I know it's a little harder this year, but I hope you do! My normal strategy is usually buying myself the presents I want and getting a good meal - any friends who want to join me are welcome to. I may not have gotten the meal I wanted this year (everything got shut down again two days earlier, of course), but at least I got my retail therapy in. 
Last year, without the pandemic, I managed to get half a dozen friends together for the day. This year, all but one canceled on me. But that's what gave me the idea for the fic.

I'm planning on starting the day by watching MLP and eating special cereals (haven't been watching TV in the morning because of a work project.) The rest of the schedule is a bit foggy, but there should be a take-out (either for lunch or dinner), a video call with my friends, and hopefully a video call with family members too. Probably also using the presents for the first time. Then there's cake, of course.
Although, the cereal, take-out lunch and cake hinges on me not getting Covid and losing my sense of taste. My anxiety has been set on fire by that possibility. I stay at home, but two of my family members are essential workers, and them and their work places do take very good precautions, but... still worried.

Would love to, but the cost would likely be a problem.
I don't think I have a favorite, though I have more than once chosen a chocolate cake with strawberry icing as my birthday special. If you haven't tried that, I'd recommend it.
Not a single one of us has ever tested positive yet or shown enough symptoms for us to be worried, so that's a good sign we're doing things right, I guess.

A former coworker used to make a strawberry cake with strawberry frosting, and that was phenomenal. I'd imagine adding chocolate into the equation could only help!
