next up changlings?
10433721
that's the plan
I hope you find some time to rest up. I hope you can find some way to sleep without resorting to medication. Lock your room when you sleep and put the litter box under your bed next time so they can't nag you so quickly
10433766
I might have another chance to sleep in 6 or 7 hours, if I know the usual highs and lows of my insomnia. Let's see what miserable excuse my parents can come up with to wake me THIS TIME!
10433727
So. Half-ling vs queen-ling. This is gonna be interesting.
Oh, and also. Changelings in your verse are obligatory love eaters or emotion eaters?
'Cause if they can eat all emotions, just throw Duskfall in the middle. Chrysie will be too fat and round to do anything from all that emotion maelstrom (Duskfall + Lightning's lust for Dusk) XD
10433727
Burn Cheese Legs with fire! All the fire! And nothing but fire!
And 3 hours of sleep in 5 days? That ain't healthy mate, I'd suggest requesting everyone leave you be for a day or two, to sleep.
10433789
In the base universe, yes, Changelings subsist exclusively on Love, but can eat food and if the food was made 'with love' it will nourish them.
Will those same rules persist in this new universe? Maybe, maybe not...
10433795
We'll see how much fire is needed sooner or later.
10433779
Seriously though, try to sleep maybe at 11 or midnight. Lock the door, and do all your personal chores but never touch anything someone else should do themselves. Put your foot down on that, wear earmuffs so maybe they can knock all they want on your door all they want.
If you somehow make them end up in a timeline/multiverse of F.O.E. make Duskfall do the Ash from the Army of Darkness references a bit and I will completely happy with how insane she could possibly get.
Ouch. Insomnia's a bitch...
10433844
forgive me my ignorance, but by F.O.E do you mean Fallout Equestria?
10433857
*Laughs in sleeplessness*
10433861
I think it's "Fall of Equestria", this thing with the Caribou and male superiority.
I find it kind of funny that the whole gigantic ass universe ending battle was the background piece. Like, hey, you already know the outcome, so why bother?
don't worry and just try to sleep, try a little of milk, or a hot shower, maybe some sugar and use when the energy go down to get some shut eye, or just 'go for a walk' and sleep in some bench or try to see if a friend rent you a bed.
Also, good chapter, liked the talk between Twilight and Dusk, and Twilight and Celestia
10433875
Yes F.O.E is fall of equestria, if duskfall goes there I bet heads will be rolling within the first hour
Also kinda expecting duskfall to get laid with chrysalis (maybe after feeding her (if they can feed on all emotions and not just love)), but let's see what you have in store for the next universe.
Also wonder who starlight is gonna turn to for power in that universe, since I doubt Chrysalis would ally herself with starlight
10433861
Yes. But its more like a idea since it is overused of a timeline. So in other words it's a funny idea that popped up in my head.
10433877
It's a combo of me being generally terrible at fight scenes and not having the energy to even attempt to write a fight scene. Although, to be honest, I'm kinda pleased with how it turned out. Twilight and Luna yelling at Celestia while Duskfall and Sombra fight in the background sounds like the start of a comedy sketch.
Let’s just hope she’s not autosexual.
I definitely enjoyed seeing Opal Bloom.
10433905
I have a bit of a thing against bethesda. As much as I think Fallout Equestria is a generally decent setting and I enjoy some of the works, I know full well that if I try to write anything concerning a bethesda work, I'm going to do something very very bad.

If did put Duskfall in one of those "Fall of Equestria" worlds, I wouldn't let her out until she got strong enough to delete the entire planet. So, regrettably, I must decline any plans to send Duskfall there. Also, this story is fucked in the head enough. I don't need to contemplate the level of disgusting that is the Caribou.
10433934
And when the world needed him most, he appeared! Thank you once again for catching all these silly errors.
If they are family, even if that family is 1000 years removed, and they just so happen to look like one another, does that still count as incest? These are the kinds of thoughts my brain chew on when I could be sleeping. SHUT UP, BRAIN!
10433945
Like I said it's a idea half of what was typed if you like, use it if _you_ want.
10434013
I very much appreciate this response. I've had people be somewhat more...insistent about adding their ideas to my story.
10433998
I especially loved this line.
I suppose so.
Dude it's fine, don't stress yourself on our account. If you need extra time take it, I'd rather get a late upload than you burning out. I've seen to many pony authors do that and it never ends well for anyone -hugs-
We didn't see much of the Flim/Flam timeline, and is it possible to fix a godforsaken wasteland? From memory, that should mean we've got the changeling timeline, maaaybe the Flim/Flam timeline, Tirek's timeline, and then probably yelling at Starlight in the wasteland, before we're back at Shattered-Souls-Equestria.
10434550
I look forward to the changeling timeline. Great story so far.
This was definitely a huge chapter, it was definitely worth the wait
10434550
If Duskfall had somehow ended up the Alicorn of the Forest, I might've considered sending her to the Flim and Flam timeline, but you're right, I can't think of a way for Duskfall to fix a barren wasteland that doesn't involve her sticking around at least until Lightning is old and gray.
My current plans are:
Changeling
Tirek
Dead World
There will be yelling at Starlight during the Dead World, but very little of it will be by Duskfall or Lightning...
Then we're back to our regularly scheduled Equestria. I don't anticipate the Tirek or Changeling worlds to take more than two chapters and the Dead World will definitely only be a single chapter.
If you have ADHD like I do or a similar thing that makes you level out when you get caffeine in you then drink like 2 or 3 cups of black coffee with sugar to sweeten it and wait for the super crash that will inevitably happen 5-10 min later.
At least that's how I did schedule fixing from nocturnal to school time.
10435255
The funny thing is I don't have ADHD or ADD. I've been tested multiple times, but it never stuck. My most recent psychologist suspects I might have bipolar, but she isn't sure.
I don't drink coffee for religious reasons, but even if that weren't the case, the smell of coffee alone has caused me to lose my most recent meal more than once. In 7th grade I had to do some fairly questionable things because my teacher was a super heavy coffee drinker to the point his classroom always had varying levels of coffee smell. Even still the janitor had to come around a few times that year because of me.
I appreciate the suggestion tho. I'm sure the answer is out there somewhere, but after 15 years of this nonsense, hope starts to fade. Hopefully I manage to get some sleep before I fall into a coma or something. As I'm replying to this comment at 2:30 AM, you're safe to assume such sleep has continued to allude me.
10435267
Damn. Well the other thing I do is eat till I'm lethargic about that's cause I'm ADD and have a jacked metabolism so I can eat like that semi regularly with no consequences. I'd suggest tea to help you sleep, (I think it's chamomile that helps sleep) or melatonin. Or many exercise until you're sore as fuck? That's what I can think of to help, but that's rough bro, hope you can get some sleep without being woken up.
10435349
I'm a freak of nature. Even an amount of sleep medication that would take out a horse has zero effect on me. I wish I was joking, but when I was younger my dad convinced me to overdose on the sleep med I was prescribed at the time. Aside from a getting a bit nauseous, nothing happened. Yes, I do realize this constitutes as child abuse, no he wasn't tried for it.
The only thing that sometimes works is stuffing myself with food, like you've suggested, but I'm not really allowed to do that unless it's Thanksgiving or Christmas. If I do, my dad and even my baby brother get on my case about 'getting fat' and shit. I'll admit I'm not super jacked, but I'm still within the weight range for my size... So it's eat and maybe sleep and get verbally abused for it later or don't eat and don't sleep until I crash. Both options include the bonus of possibly being woken an hour after I fall asleep.
I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm being a bitch to you. I'm just not in the best head space to give you a good response and I don't want you to feel like I'm ignoring you either. I'm genuinely happy you want to help. I'm just so tired...
This story really is a good one.
Keep up the good work.
As for Celestia. I always considered Cele to be evil.
Two sisters, One good, one evil. Two sisters, One bright and shining, one dark and brooding. A wise person who knows nature would never trust the beautiful one. Beautiful things in nature are always deadly. The beautiful flowers, the beautiful snakes, the beautiful frogs. The more brilliant the glory, the more poisonous the effect.
In my humble opinion, there is a very good reason why pony culture has stagnated at a almost complete stop for well over a thousand years. After all, healthy organisms and healthy cultures grow, change, and evolve. Ponies really haven't changed at all. They have trains and DJ's and somewhat modern medicine, but if you really look at things, they live very much a renaissance / romanesque era life.
Even their greatest achievement as a people, their rise over the xenophobia between each other, has only really shifted direction. The hatred and distrust between the tribes simply switched to a hatred and distrust of the non-pony races.
Back when I was a kid, we had this thing called outside. We would go "Outside" and spend most of the day terrorizing the neighborhood. Old people would spend the day sitting outside on their porches watching us lobbing bricks at each other and throwing other rope-bound children out of trees. Im told that watching children in my youth was very entertaining.
There was one old man who I would occasionally talk to, sometimes to ask for more matches, but sometimes just to talk. I learned some real profound things from that old guy. He taught me one thing i've never forgotten. People think that fear and hatred are two different emotions. That they are different, but they are not. Fear and hatred are the same thing, just seen from a different angle. He said to consider it like a color. There is red, but there is also shades of red. Brilliant red and darkest red, look different, are used differently, and are named differently, but they are still both "red". Fear and hatred are the exact same thing. Fear is Hatred turned outward. Its fear turning to violence. Hatred is Fear turning inward, its Hatred with no violence, or with no outlet or definition formed.
Fear and Hatred are simply two shades of the same color.
If you really think about it, its very true.
Then he taught me how to tie a noose without even being asked, handed me a sturdy rope and sent me to play with the other children. I asked him why, but he only said he wanted to watch what happened next. Then he told me to get the hell off his dam porch. So I went off to show the other kids my new rope. What he said never bothered me, he always used to say that.

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I think Celestia is a villain. I don't believe she is intentionally evil, but she's become a master of the art of justifying herself to herself. There's just too many little things she does that make her feel like a semi-benevolent dictator. I actually wrote a whole blog post just on how her behavior might have ruined Twilight, if you haven't seen that already. I'm curious to hear your take on it. https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/916676/the-last-problem-isnt-what-you-think
10435354
It's cool bro. Hope you can get some sleep and respite from you're family soon.
10435516
...I've seen Albus Dumbledore described a very similar way, actually - a seemingly-benevolent dictator, who views others as pawns, not caring about them as people, only in how they can help him accomplish his goals.
For example, take how he treated Harry Potter. Dumbledore somehow knew exactly when his parents were murdered, and somehow knew only the baby boy would be alive - he sent Hagrid to recover the baby, when for all anyone knew Voldemort and/or his Death Eaters could've still been at the property, or nearby. Then he doesn't do anything about the newly-imbedded soul fragment; doesn't take the boy to St. Mungo's for a check-up. No, Dumbledore decides to take the baby to his aunt and uncle, despite McGonagall having spied on them and knowing just how unsuitable they are as guardians of an orphaned wizard. Not only that, but Dumbledore doesn't even bother to knock on the door; he just leaves the baby on the ground, in the dead of night, to be discovered the next morning - what would've happened had baby Harry wandered off, as a baby is wont to do? Or if he had succumbed to cold, or nocturnal predators, or been kidnapped by some other criminal?
Dumbledore does nothing about the child abuse Harry suffers from his "guardians", despite - as noted later on - knowing full well how the boy was treated (Order of the Phoenix: "I knew I was condemning you to ten dark and difficult years."; Half-Blood Prince: "He has known nothing but neglect and often cruelty at your hands...However miserable he has been here, however unwelcome, however badly treated, you have at least, grudgingly, allowed him houseroom."). He also sends Harry straight back to his abusers after every school year, too.
Dumbledore does nothing to quell the school-wide ostracisation Harry suffers in Chamber of Secrets or Goblet of Fire; in the second book, he could have easily claimed Harry had nothing to do with the petrifications whatsoever during breakfast one morning, and admonished those who started the rumours. In the fourth book, Albus could have negated the supposed "contract", since A) Harry had no knowledge of the contract and never signed it himself, B) Harry is underage, and underage students cannot participate, and C) there were already three participants. Albus also never investigated who could've slipped the boy's name in, or realised his supposed "friend", Alastor Moody, isn't actually him, thus putting the entire school at risk again.
As for how Albus treats Sirius Black - Sirius Black is Harry Potter's godfather, and probably signed some legal document (and, since it's a Magical World, likely did some godfather Oath too) for this purpose. Why didn't Dumbledore give Harry to Sirius? The only reason why Sirius went hunting after Peter in the first place is because Hagrid refused to give him his best friend's son, his godson. Further, when Sirius was later arrested, why didn't Dumbledore grant him a trial, with Veritaserum and/or memory-viewing? Dumbledore was Chief Warlock back then; he should have been able to grant trials. Very conveniently, Sirius is illegally placed in Azkaban for over a decade without a trial, leaving Albus free to do with Harry Potter whatever he wishes.
Then, when Sirius Black escapes from his illegal confinement - and escaping from such isn't a crime - and is revealed to be completely innocent, does Dumbledore try to get the man a trial then? NOPE; the man's godson still needs to be a goddamn martyr against Riddle!
Then there's how Albus never once really tried to promote school unity, despite preaching it quite often; throughout the seven books, the man never tries to soothe tensions between Gryffindor and Slytherin whatsoever. Oh, and he never closed the school when a basilisk was petrifying students - and he should have known it's a basilisk, since what other animal can petrify whilst being worthy of snake-obsessed Salazar Slytherin? A freaking cockatrice wouldn't be worthy, nope (not that we ever hear of one existing). Or closed the school when there was something hunting unicorns and very likely posing a threat to students.
Lastly, Dumbledore never really allowed his forces to kill Death Eaters, preferring to keep the murderers alive - when said murderers were, well, murdering and torturing innocents. Old man, that's not how you effectively win a war, or prevent them from negatively influencing the next generation. If they're out to kill you and your loved ones, it's ethical to kill them first.

That's why I am oh so happy to throw Dumbledore's plans for a loop in my HP story.
You know, setting aside the meta of "It's a kids show," the Sombra War timeline could very easily have been the canon timeline even without Starlight's time shenanigans. This bit touches on a lot of the notes I usually hit about how The Crystal Empire "test" was a contender for "Celestia's dumbest move ever." But while your timeline split happens because Twi doubled down on keeping Spike with her and they got caught by the door together...really it should have been the opposite. Celestia's last bit on her "briefing" (which was less than useless because the Crystal Heart was never mentioned and I refuse to believe she didn't know about it) was that "Only you can do this." Twilight being Twilight, it's amazing she didn't take that completely literally and refuse to take Spike with her to find the Heart at all, meaning she would either have been trapped by the door as here, or at least would have been stuck in the cage trap with no one to relay the Heart to Cadance.
And speaking of Starlight, WHY hasn't Duskfall just popped her head off her neck and been done with her already? She sat out the Nightmare timeline in a cell, but here she actively aided Sombra. Leaving her alive just makes more chances for her to be at best a nuisance, or worse manage to find a way to become an actual threat.
11271862
The reason Duskfall isn't killing Starlight is half "it's not what Twilight and Tom would've done" and half "There are far worse fates than death".
Starlight will soon be confronted with one of those far worst fates, don't you worry :3
As an avid Kingdom Hearts fan, I laughed at this.
