These two were a surprisingly accurate portrayal of zoologists and pretty much anyone who works with animals. You noticed how they were... not neglectful, but rather tone deaf to their daughter, see them just dropping back in to uproot her whole life and leaving her with the gay bait aunts (although I will admit they did them the best way, namely not actually addressing their obvious relationship at all. Also I love Holidays accent see video) Simply put zoologists tend to be so good with animals people become secondary, if they're able to relate to them at all.
Want further proof? Okay, look at Scoot's mom. Notice she has no siblings? If Dundee isn't pumping that on a nightly basis to the point of repopulating one of the recently civil war'd banana republics they frequent, its either zoology of she's his beard

Aside from the whole, you know, leaving the fucking ten year old alone for seeming years at a time. I mean, yes, teach them to be self sufficient, but Scoots really should have had parental figures more in her life.
Thankfully it was more cluelessness then indifference or malice, but come the fuck on.

Of course, to be fair, alicorn princess's make sure a turtle can fly before her, so there may be something of a trend amongst ponykind

I can't shake the feeling that scootaloo's parents were created to get rid of that scootaloo's an orphan or abused parents theories were going around along with the reason that they were shown near the end of the series along with Scootaloo's aunts.
I like this story :)
maybe Scooterloos Parents won't win a price for parenting, but I think you described then in a way that can work for the canon characters :)

Well, their first published appearance is (sort of) Jan 2018, and it's perfectly in keeping with the characters suggested in Parental Glideance, so I'd say they were at least as well developed/planned out as, say, Sweetie's.
Which is to say, "hardly at all, because they weren't important to the show." Though if they wanted to bypass the idea that Scoots was abused, they didn't do that great a job on that one. Neglected, certainly.

Please keep in mind, I know I can be overly critical and negative at times. I can always find something to nitpick, even in the greatest works of literature ever written. Please don't take it personally!
-Good job of giving details of setting to keep it grounded.
-Nice job of writing an Australian accent.
-The preamble with Snap eating breakfast and reading the paper went on for a bit longer than necessary, especially for a fairly short story.
-Things escalated very quickly. Almost no time for buildup.
-Story was set on Hearth's Warming day ... but didn't really do anything with that. not sure why.
-Pretty good job with the tender afterglow scene.
