Equestria is suffering a dire problem. You are part of that solution, even if you aren't entirely aware of it. No, we don't need a dragon slayer or something like that. We're sure you can handle this just as you are.

I'm liking where this story is going. This isn't the end is it? Please don't say it is.
is it done ?
Okay, so let me see if I'm getting all of this:
1) Trixie, for all that she's lovesick at the moment, is going to go back on the road after she gives birth, stopping in from time-to-time to check in on her husband (?) and child. Mom of the year material, there. I get that she's going to be torn between earning the acclaim that she wants, but in all honesty, the essence of being a parent is that you sacrifice for your child. That Trixie is concerned with keeping up with her fame as a magician (what little fame she got, in all honesty) and with getting Kyle to treat her like a dirty, dirty slut in the bedroom, but not with making sure her foal has a mother around, doesn't endear me to her. Also, Kyle is taking it remarkably well that the wife he had "imprinted" on him (thanks to Starlight) is going to be missing for most of the time after she pops their child out.
2) Careful is going to get her wish to experience the motherhood aspect of femininity, and live with Kyle as his wife...though her protesting that she doesn't want to be "one mare in a crowd" is insightful of her, since she knows how this is going to go, but at the same time seems rather unrealistic. Or at the very least, it's rather awkward that she's going from "I thought I was going to be dumped" to "If you want me, forsake all others." It's understandable that someone would want a lover that's focused entirely on them - and I have to wonder if her expectations from being a human are part of why she's mentioning this - but that's simply not how the situation is shaping up. Sometimes a compromise is the best you can get, if you really want something.
3) Starlight has been kicked, not to the curb, but at least the end of the line. This is where I think Careful is going to be upset, because Starlight isn't going to settle for being a part-time mom/wife. Everything about her suggests that she wants to put down roots somewhere (e.g. her village when she led it), and that's certainly preferable to living as a permanent guest in Twilight's castle. I suppose one answer to this would be to tell Starlight that she's just not going to get a foal, but that seems callous; Kyle did make a commitment to her, even if the Stud Program has now been cancelled. Moreover, Trixie is doubtlessly going to want to go through her pregnancy with her best friend (and who better to trust to help her Master take care of her baby in her absence). So yeah, Careful is going to have a co-wife, in all likelihood.
4) Applejack has already become yesterday's news, apparently, despite her having feelings for Kyle, not to mention his baby growing inside her. Seriously, why hasn't she kicked down the door yet, now that the Stud Program has been cancelled? It's important to remember that she never got a chance to deepen her relationship with Kyle because Celestia forcibly stopped it from happening. That's not fair to her. Especially after she and Kyle had such a heartfelt talk about how guilty she felt about endorsing the Program when she wasn't sure she believed in it. That nascent romance deserves a chance.
Having said all of that, I'm honestly wondering if certain members of the "collective" that's watching this correspond to certain posters here. I doubt it, but I can't help but grin and wonder if certain lines sound most like certain commenters...
(Also, excellent double entendre in the title! )
7775222 A lot of your assumptions/arguments hinge on one thing, that what has been said in this chapter is the new status quo. It isn't. It's been all of one day since the cancellation. Folks in the castle know about it, but Ponyville has to wait a bit longer to catch word, so Applejack has little reason to already be there.
The adventure isn't over yet. Relax :) There will be time for emotions to be expressed, foals to be sired, and herds to be established.
To put it another way, Starlight will want to be with Trixie. Starlight likes getting her way.
If he let in Starlight first, she would then work to keep it just like that. Instead, he made her wait, and is keeping the door open for Careful. Once she's in, that's cut off.
That makes it more likely that AJ has a chance, not less.
I always thought that the herd route was a bit shameless and a bit of a cop out. It's still nice that nobody has hurt feelings but much like the Stud Program, this was a band aid.
Where as I like all of them, especially Careful, I miss Applejack.
Still I suppose it's up to Kyle and he is doing the best by him.
Hehe, the commentary has died down, it does feel like the objectors have been bound and gagged. Im guessing the how and why humanity had almost been wiped out is the same reason the ponies hare suffering the same fate. But I just realized... Kyle is getting it on with my great great geat great Granddaughters! Someone punch him in the face when we see that smug bastard. Just kidding, but seriously we need to start making ponies like right away. We going to set up breeding programs or are most of us going to have to be mares? Logistically im not seeing us repopulate with so few females.
Given teh way things seem to be going, I take it this research centre is near Olduvai Gorge, and is a Himans Next attempt to keep even a stable breeding population going of several thousand induviduals, given that they would never be able to have the advanced tech that takes an entire civilisation to support unless replication and conversion power is available, which is very much like Magic field and Spell forms and casting?
Well, its been a couple decades since I last looked through teh details,a nd science progressing has been suggesting similarities and equivalents. So, given that and a couple of other reasons, which Silver has seen but possibly doesnt remember seeing, Im going to help out with basic stuff, now refreshed, bit of carpentry, assembly, nonlinear optical couplings, given they need known chaos functions to work properly.
Id also prefer a set of at least 6 print books from an encyclopedia, a carrot, a fresh egg, and four candles.
And if anyone understands what Im expecting to happen there, you can go and whimper quietly in the corner.
So we are looking at the end. But I'm still not sure how we went from humans to ponies. They (we?) apparently have the technology for it though.
7775385 We know it must happen, but why? We all wish to know, operator. They are coming. By god, the answers are coming, and we will know what path we walk to tomorrow.
I vote for <Error 404. - Voting option not found>.
I'm still confused, but it's getting better.
But for now let's stop thinking and start saving humanity (more or less).
You're probably the only pony in the entire world that may/could be attracted to Kyle as he is: human. Trixie wants a stallion, AJ wants a stallion, Starlight hasn't said yet, but was born a pony. You, Careful, are the only pony that we know of that was born human, and likely still has some human sensibilities. You can relate to Kyle in ways that no pony can, and that's a Big Deal.
I'll be honest, though, I'm less interested in the story now. I've never been a big fan of Trixie, and now she's wife number 1. And with the way she accomplished that? *sigh* But... we'll see.
quadrapeds - quadrupeds
with the work of the director - I'm not sure what this means. Is he, well, directing them? Are they working alongside him?
1% of what, I wonder. 1% of what it used to be? 1% of relatively pure humans?
Someone needs to wash their hands.
7775425
Trixie has more or less sidelined herself, same for Starlight. The story has explained that they will have a place in Kyle's heart, but right now Careful is on track to be #1. At least, that's how I'm reading it.
Does that help at all?
We are a tough species to keep down.
7775412
Agh. Sorry about the ugly error message.
We turned off the voting ui, but the commands are still there.
Being unable to turn off the voting was supposed to be a failsafe to prevent loss of operator agency in the face of unexpected bugs, to prevent them from becoming trapped in the hive, forgotten who they were with no control, but now we're having trouble getting rid of it! We didn't anticipate loss of vessel control. At least it doesn't crash like it used to, though!
7775481 Let that be the largest typo we face in this critical juncture.
ok I am a bit slow at times and David Silver is a bloody genus I am really liking the way he is taking this story.
I'm confused...again. One of the operators, a female, said she still remembers having a 'horse dick'. How is that possible if the operators are in the past? Also, while 'Kyle' and Careful were talking, I kept thinking about Applejack. She said that she would have wanted a chance to be with Kyle. And what kind of havoc is going to accord when the rest of Equestria, especially the mares that were waiting patiently to possibly become mothers, find out that the Stud Program is done?
7775686 You are an operator. You were one of many giving information, suggestions, and control over the agent, who's name is 'Kyle' as it turned out.
Before I forget, what happened to Moondancer? She wasn't in the Stud Program but she still was doing research on magic usage in human. Is Kyle no longer interested in learning magic? Or has that research been shut down as well?
7775699 Okay, but what does that have to do with 'remember having a horse dick'? And the following line of 'If looks like half of us will know how that feels eventually'?
7775706 When you were controlling Kyle, you thought you were Kyle. You felt what he felt, saw what he saw, tasted, all them senses. So, yes, the female does remember sporting a horse wang.
She referred to the fact that humanity would become ponies, so at least half of it would learn what having a horse wang was like.
7775706
The way I understand the story is that we the audience are the 'operators' and we all shared a common consciousness with Kyle until we got kicked offline. Any female operator sharing a consciousness with Kyle will have clear memories of being equipped like a stallion.
Is that helpful?
We think this fertility problem may not have started with the ponies...
Keep going! ;)
Ok i gotta ask are the people in the control room emotions like from that Pixar movie. Beacause unless they are kyle is a freaking clone or robot or cyborg.
7775742
I don't think it's a fertility issue. People didn't come out of their pods - they died before they could be unplugged, I'm assuming. Plus something as relatively simple as fertility should be fixable with a technology ceiling this advanced. (Potentially) healthy adults might just be ceasing to continue living.
Looks like the story being the whole 'The audience determines where the story goes' has stopped cold in its tracks and is now just a silly smut story like so many others. It was fun while it lasted, time to unfavorite and move on.
7775830 I got more of a "We're sending, the ponies are receiving" kind of vibe. We're looking for a way to save the species, and so are the ponies. It's kind of like Frequency. Both sides are tuned to the same channel, so when ponies go looking for a subject, they find easy access to the human we're trying to send out there. In this case, we've linked everyone to that one person that was sent, as everyone notices different things. The more eyes and minds you have on a topic, the more likely you are to catch everything.
As to what "Kyle" is, I don't know. Maybe he's like the Avatars from the blue space monkey movie, or maybe it's something entirely different. Only David knows.
At least, that's my personal opinion. I also have to admit I don't mind the concept of humans to ponies, so long as it's not TCB. That's another can of worms...
7775979
I know im not the only brony who wishes they could go to equestria as long as it not the verse where either gender are slaves. But i wouldnt mind being the savior of both races.
7775976 This is a tad confusing, since the story started as a silly smut story out of the gate and has gotten progressively less silly with every chapter. Are we reading the same horse words?
7776108
When you put it like that it suddenly becomes clear that we the audience infected this tale with Cerebus Syndrome.
Choice V8, I stomp around the room demanding, "COFFEE DAMMIT! AND BACTINE! Some of this blood is mine!"
7776124 I let the audience guide it along. It could have remained a light smut story. It didn't.
dang, greedy humans, wanting to turn into horses, to bad they cant just make clones, or fix there dna to replicate more, NOOO instead they need to change it into horse dna, That will die off in the future anyways
7776124 What's Cerberus Syndrome?
7775722 7775736
When the operators were thrown into the story, it completely came outta left field (to me anyway). I admit to being confused about the connection between the operators and Kyle. From the explanations I've received (thank you very much by the way), I gather that due to a malfunction (which I think had to do with the conversation between the princesses, Kyle, and Starlight), these operators (us the voters) were released from their stasis... well some of them at least. For some reason, Kyle is humans salvation to make sure they (we) become ponies AND Equestria's salvation in somehow curing Celestia's SNAFU. I still wonder why they were in stasis in the first place? Am I close?
7776588
Cerebus Syndrome
7776588 You weren't 'in stasis'. You were busy controlling Kyle, living as Kyle, and not living as you. You all shared that experience.
Ah. I see. I assume Magic came into play and it acts as radiation that is killing humans. So, humans have to let the radiation mutate them so they can survive it.
Nature, yay! Even radiation is part of nature!
This is literally almost the plot of the Assassin's Creed games. Not necessarily a bad thing.
7815747 Never played it, though I have an extremely basic idea of it?
