Tragedy and hardship are, sadly, facts of life. There are those who spend nearly every day in peace, with only the occasional megalomaniacal tyrant to disrupt it. Others are subject to cruelty and unfathomable horrors on a regular basis. Even those who try to avoid trouble as best they can sometimes get swept up in events outside their control. One such person arrives in Equestria from another world entirely, after a string of traumatic experiences, just to get away from it all for a while in someplace calm. She'll make new friends, and leave with plenty of stories to tell.

Huh. Is there any evidence to Tamiyo being that old?

In any case, after the events of Eldritch Moon, she could certainly use some pony therapy. I look forward to seeing where you go with this.

There wasn't anything I could find saying how Soratami age, and she has records of events from way before the Mending, so I figured she had to have been around for a while.

She was just traumatized the normal amount: half her library, rounded down.

I'm laughing, and I feel bad that I am.

In any case, this seems like the exact sort of thing Tamiyo needs, a new, peaceful experience. I just hope nothing too exciting happens in the meantime... but this is Ponyville. Thraben may have had a much more disastrous event recently, but some manner of danger swings by on a fairly regular basis.

This would be the absolute worst time for Fluttershy's new best friend, Mister Giant Floating Squid, to pay a visit.

...but pegasi have dealt with the weather for over a millennia.

*twitch*

Twilight shook her head. "I've never been the creative type."

:rainbowhuh: "What about that time with the parasprites?"
:facehoof: "Yes, what about that time with the parasprites?"
:rainbowderp: "... Good point."

In any case, I could definitely see Dash trying to sweep the sabotage incident under the rug until it was too late. The solution and the aftereffects were both very well done. A shame illusions are needed to blend in in Ponyville; otherwise, it would make a great therapy spot for planeswalkers of... well, most stripes. We definitely don't want Garruk in these parts right now.

I figured that one day the fact that I self-edit would come back to bite me.

And yeah, most 'walkers would probably need to work harder to blend in. Sarkhan would probably blow his cover immediately the second he saw Spike.

Now seems like a very good time to link to this image.

In any case, certainly an interesting spin on Emrakul's banishment, especially since Mega-Ultra-Squid was the one who originally slipped her pony fanfiction in a scroll that originally recounted the story of Urza collapsing Serra's Realm.

As for the shared memories... Twilight had better start rebuilding her castle, because she just lost the top half of her library. Still, she's definitely better equipped to help Tamiyo truly heal rather than just avoid the problem.

Well I for one very much like this story. There really aren't enough MTG crossovers in this fandom, and this is a good one. Maybe you could have Jace show up too later, seeing as he had to deal with two Eldrazi invasions, and was succumbing to the madness of Emrakul in Shadows over Innistrad. It would be interesting to see that's for sure.

Ah. Nothing about Sabul's own folly. I suppose that was lost to time.

In any case, always good to see more of this. Tamiyo's parenting skills are formidable indeed given how well she can handle the Crusaders. And I can only imagine what Twilight might make of color theory given the chance.

Tamiyo's pony therapy seems to be going swimmingly. I look forward to whatever's next.

puss-filled boils.

pus-filled

The cloud city connection has always amused me. Thank goodness most pegasi keep enough contact with the ground to remember their connection to the rest of the world and not become as insular as the soratami of old.

In any case, looks like this story's drawing to a close. It's been a fun ride. I almost find myself hoping Tamiyo will write a letter to a princess by the end. :raritywink:

What more is there to say? Thank you for a very sweet crossover of two of my favorite things.

What is this a crossover of?

Magic: The Gathering. I probably could have made that a bit more obvious beyond just putting it in the appropriate group. But now future confused people can just see this comment, so I guess it works out.

Theros' god's didn't seem to prevent planeswalkers from going near the place, and I don't see any reason Celestia would be more fearsome than, say, Heliod would be.

Dont get me wrong, I just found this fic and haven't read it yet and you have NO IDEA how giddy I am at the prospect of an MtG crossover that focuses on actual characters rather than near-omnipotent gods being "le super rational geniuses". I heavily dislike the tendency of a lot of writers to focus on the powers and fanwankery over characters being (pardon the inaccurate word choice) human.

That was really nice.

Thank you! *scoots away awkwardly from oldest fic*

As for the whole gods as planeswalker repellant thing, I was trying to come up with a decent reason as to why none had visited Equestria in recent memory. The only other one I thought was feasible would be xenophobia on the part of the 'walkers, but that would have been in poor taste. There's a reason they retconned Nissa.

Heh, I think people get too hung up on explaining that. To draw on Theros again, remember that not even Heliod knew walkers existed until after Xenagos did his thing. That's why he murdered Elspeth afterwards because he felt threatened. The existence of walkers isn't really known on most planes. Ojutai had a few ancient scrolls locked up in his super secret restricted section, but there's no reason Celestia would need to have the same amount of knowledge off the top of her head as the deepest archives of an ancient wisdom dragon.
