I binged read this and prince of darkness and I dont think winter ever was really a gary stue. His logic is always, surrender now, then if they dont kill all but one. He might as well be the devil himself with how he resorts straight to killing and how much power he wields. Even when he got his empathy back he didnt really care about killing other than it was an inconvenience to feel bad about slaughtering people. On that note I cant wait to read more!!
