“I need you, the reader, to imagine us, for we don't really exist if you don't.”

So Celestia already knows how each and every fight's going to end?

Well, I guess we know now why Twilight's stuck with all of the heavy lifting...

She is a unicorn so powerful that her body could survive alicornification

Equus may be the final frontier but its made in an animation studio. And Lauren Faust's show's espoused to a corporation's stat quo. And Equestria isn't far away, it's Alicornication!

Joking aside, this was pretty neat. I've always liked the "Chesslestia" concept.

I love chessmaster Celestia. This was fun. Reminds me a little of a part in Friends Forever 3 comic . I love me some simulations :trollestia:

Now that just sounds wrong :rainbowderp:

I still say Starlight accidentally killed Equestria at least 5 times.

Thanks! Glad you liked it =)

Ohmigosh, that comic. This is pretty much it in a nutshell.

I'm with Luna. I wouldn't trust the plotting of someone who doesn't know the difference between a Plan A and a Plan B.

Thanks for the feedback! Useful tidbits help me clarify stuff in the work, so I've edited it to make it more clear.

Wonderful!:raritystarry: Apsalutly WONDERFUL!!!!:raritystarry:

It kind of feels like you were trying to do Chessmaster Celestia and cute/funny Royal Sister shenanigans, and the two sides don't quite meet. That said, this is an acceptable refutation of all the "WHY DIDN'T CELESTIA" arguments, though I'm sure it's also the sort of story people will gladly argue about in the comments. :B

Thank you for your thoughts! I did consider not having the antics, but I was worried that solid stoicness would make the thing drag. I'll do some mulling on making it cohesive, or if there's alternatives to it.

And hey - all comments are still comments, right? =P

Quite so. :D Here's another!

So Celestia is able to see alternate timelines and futures through her dreams? That explains why she's so lazy. Though it's a tad bit worrying if she dreamed of those certain timelines where she used questionable means to keep her rainbows around. Or that one weird one where she planned to save Equestria by slowly replacing the Ponies with Frankensteinesque abominations. :trollestia:

Ugh... You know, I think I can fully support this Luna going NMM and trying to take over from Celestia... Not the whole "The Night Will Last Forever" thing mind you... But not only is Celestia a Chessmaster.. She's an arrogant, smarmy, superior twit of a chessmaster. She treats her sister / co-ruler like a none too bright child, dismisses her concerns, makes arguments against destroying knowledge (starswirl's spell) and then admits to having done just that. She's playing little mind games to 'teach' her 'former' student, and has clearly been pulling strings like this for centuries... She's really a horrible, horrible person. A successful ruler, perhaps. But still a horrible person.

Seriously Luna, I'd say it's time for Round 2, but the arrogant twat probably has that all planned out already, so you're better off just shrugging and leaving to colonize the moon or something. :facehoof:

Naw, just go tell Twilight a suitably edited series of events and recruit her and the Mane six to put down the "Demon" possessing your sister. After all, we have to stop her before she can make the day last forever!

Well, that really depends on how the EoH actually work. I mean, if all they do is remove evil, corruptive outside influences, they might not do anything to someone's who's naturally just a giant bitch.

:trollestia: Twilight? What's all this? *raises an eyebrow whole munching on a piece of cake*
:twilightangry2: Luna told us everything, Solaria! We'll stop you, and have you back to normal in no time!
:trollestia: Whut?
 Come on girls!
:twilightsmile::ajsmug::pinkiehappy::rainbowdetermined2::raritywink::yay: Rainbow Power!
:trollestia: *still sitting there* *completely unaffected* *cake still in front of her* *After a moment, continued chewing*
:trollestia: Well... That was refreshing...
:twilightblush: ... Whut?
:trollestia:Now then Twilight, there's been some problems with a group of diamond dogs on the border.. Could you and your little friends pop by there and do something about it? Thanks.
:twilightblush: Errrrmm... Sure?

”Did you try talking to those versions of me?” repeated Celestia. “Chances are that we are remarkably consistent, and probably refrain from using our powers even in such times, so that our subjects may grow and learn to fend for themselves. Did you see either of us on the battlefield?”

That's one nice way of saying that all previous sophisticated argumentation was complete bull in a single sentence :rainbowlaugh:
