Not if he comes across something that loves this smell like Buttons did. Yes, the crackle jackals fled, but was that because of the stench or the dragon? I mean, they are part canidae creatures after all...

Buttons lives in the middle of one of the stinkiest places in Equestria and her nose has died.
I want to say somepony is going to have difficulty for wont of hoof covers or something after that mention of dissolving hooves.
6030078
That must be hard for a dog... I mean, in case she would move somewhere else.
Money, money. Yeah yeah.
You know something, Tarnish might be leaning towards an interesting direction. I'm thinking Harry King from Discworld. Perhaps we should look into sewerage and waste management systems for cities and towns later to make bits from.
6030090 As long as he takes that advice to move quickly and have a fast step, he should be fine. Just don't want to stand and give the alkali salts time to start reacting. And Tarnished is certainly showing himself to be a clever pony
Oh no is he being a clever unicorn? I fear for him in a story by kudzu
Tarnish didnt know the number one rule in life: never tell others if you discovered something that advantageous for you.
Also from my experience, post office workers are quite superstitious, so that jacket will stir some trouble if he mention it was previously owned by another courier who died soon as he bought it.
There's a warning in the duster's story. I just hope Tarnish takes it to heart. Not just in town, but also out on the Putrid Plains. Pride can quickly become arrogance, especially for somepony with so little experience with it.
Also, between the Mellow Marsh, the Putrid Plains, and whatever other hazards there are within walking distance, I'm amazed that Dodge Junction was even founded. I wonder what was so enticing about the site.

Anypony can get wealthy. It's a boom town with mines located all around it.
Ponyville is a nice place too. Just watch the Everfree.
Nice Fallout New Vegas reference.
You can't really blame a 12-16-year-old for being grumpy/angsty if he gets a condition like that and he knows other people/ponies don't like him because of it.
Methinks Tarnish is going to encounter some problems now... the poor boy.
Fallout New Vegas reference?
Awesome job!
Stink! It's super effective.
Amazing the money you can earn when you surrender pride
Silly Tarnished, it's a duster of +5 fire resistance.
I can see that Tarnish is a smart stallion by taking advantage of the stench. I have to wonder how much a bath would cost him though, tomatoes can't be cheap in Dodge Junction. I don't know how hot 111 Fahrenheit is except that it's a heat that would make you not want to do anything in the sun.
7553019 100+ Degrees F is HOT! 111 degrees F? You'll be seriously baking in that sun. I mean even in the 90s it's considered "Hot". To get to 110+ you'd have to be living in or near a desert.
7716236 7553019 it hits 110F where I live a couple times a summer, a couple years ago it came close to 120. A city just south of me frequently goes above 120 during the summer.
I can also attest that wearing a duster in 100+ degrees is nice as long as you're moving. Even though my duster is black it'll still keep me cool. AS soon as you stop moving though, it heats up really fast. You also consume a lot more water, as your sweat is keeping you cool inside the duster, you sweat more, and drink more.
Also on a survival note, DON'T conserve water in the desert. If you're thirsty, drink. So many people have died with enough water in their bottles to have survived if they had actually drunk it. Also, sipping at water when your dehydrated actually uses more water than it gives you and will dehydrate you faster. You will live longer quenching your thirst than you will conserving your water.
