Whilst I was waiting for my final surgery, with nothing to do since I forgot my book at home. I encountered a colt who by the looks of it is terrified for his own surgery. With nothing better to do, I decided to help him by sharing my own experience about surgeries with him.

My goal with this story is to make people less afraid of surgeries, a goal which I hope I achieved. If you find any grammar errors, feel free to point them out.

Edit: Coverart is a picture of the titanium plates and screws they removed from my knee.

When I had to have my appendix removed, I was a nervous wreck, I literally cried because this was my first major surgery (not counting teeth that were pulled or some other surgery that isn't major). This was about almost 3 years ago. Thankfully the appendix was just inflamed and the pain had just started the night before the surgery, and thankfully I actually had a scheduled check up at my family doctor the day I went in to the hospital. Some anesthesia and three scars on my stomach later and it's out. I left the hospital about 24 hours after I came in, I literally needed a wheelchair to get around in the hospital because of the pain in my lower stomach, which also caused leg pains. Thankfully it's something that happens only once to a person, but an appendectomy is pretty common.

ALSO, the anesthesia went into effect about 10 minutes before 19th birthday. Some birthday huh?

As long as we are comparing scars mine runs from about three and a half inches below my belly button to about the same above it. The most frightening thing was the statement by the tech to my son “ I don't like the look of that one.” I almost needed a change of shorts. On the positive side I don't worry about appendicitis any more.

This was a nice read. I my self got a scar across my side form an operation when I was three. Though I haven't done any operations since, I go to the hospital for regular check-ups of several different things.

5635474 that is, quite a story...

5635748 thank you^^

That sucks :/

5636162
No problem! :D

Eh, I'm used to it. None of this really affect my daily life, anyhow. :/

5636183 that's good, I guess...

5636504 why the wow? xD

Thanks

5636588 ... wow, I didn't know I could write like that...

A tremor is a tremor. I'd probably feel a bit nervous if I was in one... (We don't really have those in Sweden) Glad it wasn't serious though

Wow... This didn't help me in the slightest but good job anyways!!!

As I write this, Next Friday I have to go in for a surgery. I am f:yay:king scared even while writing about it. I wish I didn't have to do this. But I guess this did help a bit.

BTW This is my first one so.... yeah... Wow I'm depressed now.

5650018 Well, I can't help everyone I guess...

I did go on 2 year old memories though, so I could try to give some more info now.

And thanks for the feedback

5650029 You're welcome.

Welp, I'm going to go prepare myself for the week of preparing myself mentally.

5650035 This is how it was for me: After getting pumped with narcosis, it took a minute or so, maybe 30 seconds Before the room started spinning. Then Everything is blank. I woke up, had a hard time talking (You might feel nauseous) and you will feel a very dull pain at the Place they cut you open.

After a while you're 'awake' enough to go back to the room where you waited for the surgery, then you might go home that day, or Another day. Depending on how big your surgery is

5650050 It's minor.

Yeah, Everyone tells me that it's just going to be like I fell asleep and woke up, but I don't really react well to any sort of pain.

5650061 Well, you'll be home the same day... I ran to the bus two Days after this surgery xD

It's gonna be like someone is holding a finger there, using the weight of their arm (At least it felt like that for me)

Trust me, it's gonna be worse to go to bed xD

5650071 Oh god... I have a kind of bunk bed (It's hard to explain) so... Oh god... I'm going to hate this.

5650078 It depends on where you have the surgery... just don't lay on the spot they cut in, and you shouldn't notice anything

So far,i've had 4 surgeries regarding a birth defect I have had. When,i was in first grade,I had to go to back,to do the defect returning.I really had to stay back, because i'd been so nervous that,I couldn't go to school. When it was done,I felt relieved, and had nothing to worry about.I was scared,do to the fact that, they aren't that experienced in my birth defect.

5764448
I can imagine that you'd be stressed then.

I was the youngest one they had preformed such a surgery on back then, but I wasn't really old enough to even be able to get worried over it. So I was quite lucky.

But at least it turned out good in the end, right?

5764536 Well, good for you

Finished reviewing the story for the goodfic bin. Despite being an okay story, it doesn't leave as much as an impact as I want it to. For that reason, I'm removing it from submissions folders.

Decision is here.

5767800 Well, thank you for taking time in reviewing it anyways

I did kind of write it in a haste and didn't really get to profread it or anything, so I didn't expect too much of it anyways

*shudders* :fluttershyouch:

I don't like hospitals, but that was a nice story. Went under the needle for a minor knee operation once myself, with only local anesthetic. I wish they had put me under thought. The memory of them wiggling needles and other things deep into my knee is something I'd rather forget.

5908404 Yeah, that does sound like something you'd rather forget.

Worst thing that happened during my surgery was when they told me that they just had to get the screwdriver for it. Nice info xD

5908413 Ha, wow. Ouch.

I hope the knee is working again. I know it can take a while to fully recover.

5908425 It's better now than before the surgery. Ran to the bus two days after the surgery xD

And I hope your knee healed properly as well

5908430 It's a long time ago. Almost twenty years, come to think of it. :rainbowderp:

It healed and I can run on it, but it just sort of grew wrong after that. It always pops loudly with every step when I walk up some stairs. I don't really notice it anymore now though.

5908437 That is quite some time. Sad to hear that it didn't heal properly. At least it doesn't sound too bad.
