Rarity and Applejack have a quiet conversation in the orchard about the meaning of beauty.

Upon her return to Ponyville, Applejack learns Big Macintosh crossdressed at the Sisterhooves Social to help his little sister Apple Bloom. Obviously, Applejack knows Mac's behavior doesn't mean he has gender issues. If anything, it just shows how much he cares for his little sister.

However, something else happened while Applejack was away that can't be so easily dismissed.

It's time to talk.

After spending a long day together, walking round the Middle Equestrian countryside and enjoying each other's company, Starlight has an important question for Applejack.

Rainbow Dash asks Applejack out on a date for Hearts and Hooves Day.
Long story short, Applejack says yes. And then she says no. Six times in a row.
Applejack tells Rainbow Dash that she'll go go on a date with her if Rainbow asks her the right way. But what the heck does that mean? Rainbow spends the next week trying to find out, employing everything from bribery by chocolate to singing to horrible pickup lines, in her attempt to win Applejack's heart. But it's only on Hearts and Hooves Day itself that she discovers what Applejack really wanted to hear.

After being ditched by Rarity, Applejack finds herself on a train to Canterlot for a fashion show. The train was just under a tunnel when there was a crash. Now Applejack is stuck on a train with no way out with a stallion she wished wasn't there.

Amid the celebrations of the Reunion, the rodeo and the one year anniversary of the peace agreement with the buffalo, Applejack finds that her favorite cousin, Braeburn, has been involved in making changes--including bucking tradition instead of apples.

How she attempts to deal with this, and her friendly-rivalry with Rainbow Dash, will push Applejack to her limits.
