Ponies survive on grass. Could humans do as well? · 6:46am Dec 21st, 2023
I have a food question.
Obviously, grass isn't eatable for several reasons:
- It's poisonous. It contains cianid that can cause nerve damage or even kill you.
- It's indigestible because the cells of the plants have an extra layer of cellulose that human enzymes can't chew through. Humans also don't have 5 stomachs like cows do.
- It has a low yield. The amount of chewing you'd have to do would take more energy out of you than the contents would give back.
