Deviant is a very weird story. I actually almost submitted it with no genre tags at all. It's too serious for Slice-of-Life, not dark enough for Dark, not sciency enough for Science Fiction, not heavy enough for Drama. And the Romance? Well…

Oddly enough my new one shot has gotten featured.
That is nice of course, but I'd like you all to check it out, as it is a gift to Cutest Puppers herself.
She had lost an animal friend lately, I've been working on this for her in hopes to give her a smile.
We all have friends who come and go, but as long as we keep them alive in our hearts.
They shall never truly be gone.

Sorry for the freaking out, but I though I'd never hit the featured box (mature off)! Like, at all! Granted, it's in the updated section, but still!
It just doesn't seem real. 
And today my fifth story to get featured is the recently released Weatherpony, which I'm pretty chuffed about. More interestingly, though, is that it only got featured with less than 100 views, which I don't see all that often. In fact, since it got released, statistically speaking 1/3rd of readers enjoyed the story, which is pretty cool.
Author B_25 is currently in the feature box in slots 1, 2, 3, and 6 with stories of all ratings. Plus another one or two in Popular Stories.
This has been happening consistently for weeks.

Well, it was a cold, rainy, and absolutely miserable day today in west PA. I've been dealing with insomnia these past few days, and classes have been boring. But today I was smiling from ear to ear.

IT'S FEATURED ALREADY!?
Thank you everyone so much for getting my story featured! 
Wow, I never thought one of my stories would be on the featured list for so long, or even get to the very top of it...
There has also been an avalanche of people favoring it and showing support, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of my stories get that kind of attention so fast, not since King: The beginning. And still this seem to break my records.
Puts a lot of pressure on a guy. Kinda makes me nervous! Haha..
I want to thank each and every one of you beautiful people for reading and enjoying my latest story The maned ape. Because of you all, it has become the second story of mine to be featured.
It is a truly humbling experience.
There is prevailing wisdom on this site that the easiest way to get into the featured box on the front page is to write clop.
However, this ignores the fact that fimfiction effectively has two featured boxes. One is displayed if your settings make M-rated stories visible. The other is displayed otherwise. Here are a couple of screenshots I took a little while ago showing the two featured boxes:

You all know her as Applety, the person who makes the art for Shadows Cast Over the Sunset, but she's actually so much more. She's also a big contributor to the story and she is the most important person in my world. She's a loving, sweet person who has gone through hard times and is finally coming out on top. She's passionate about art, and you can always see it in her face when she's working on something. She's hard on herself, but she's very talented:

So as I'm sure any writer on this site can relate, it's obviously the secret goal of any writer to see one of their fics hit the famed feature box on the site's front page. For me, that shows that all my work writing something people can enjoy to read paid off and was accomplished successfully. And during my time here on this site, I've painstakingly written a number of fics with the hopes that they would accomplish that goal and get
"Attachment" was Featured for all of twenty minutes before it was bumped off. That sucks . . . .
Oh well, that's why I take screen shots. And I'm still getting rave reviews! All thanks to you awesome readers! Thank you all so much for your reads, faves and comments. I eat that stuff up!

I almost cried. I think I finally have my old spark back.
All the better, since I plan on finishing my novel this October. And this just gave me the confidence I needed.
