Rainbow Dash, ace pilot in the United States Air Force and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor for "actions above and beyond the call of duty," returns home to the small town of High Pointe with a ruined leg and a heavily-bruised ego.

Months of physical therapy and back-to-back surgeries had more or less saved the limb, though Rainbow Dash knew her dreams of becoming a soccer star were forever crushed, along with her hopes of a swift recovery.

Her personal doubt and loneliness are not just her imagination. The pain of abandonment closes in on all sides, when two specific people from her past show up and start to bring her back.

Rainbow Dash was perfectly happy with her life as a pirate. She had a FTL-capable battle cruiser, a mostly loyal crew that didn't try to kill her in the last three months and a hole bunch of money, but than she had to steal this strange alien artifact.
Now she is stuck together with her former friend and present enemy Applejack while the hole world is trying to kill them.

Applejack has always been the subject of bullying at her school, mainly because of her style of clothing and Southern accent. She found it hard to live with this most days, but when a poster appeared announcing needed members for a band, well, she thought she'd found her chance.
Of course, she felt moreso when she met the founder, Rainbow Dash.

In a 50's version of humanised Equestria, the Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity struggle through all the difficulties and troubles that life in high school throws at them. Friendships are strained, love blossoms, and two new girls arrive at the school.

After Nazi German's victory in the Second World War, they pushed through Europe and across the Atlantic, attacking on America's home turf. A wall was erected to protect the citizens of what is now the ruins of a once powerful nation, stretching from the Carolinas, all the way to Texas, the Nazis controlling the north, the American resistance holding the south. The wall runs straight through the small town of Easton, where after nearly seventy bitter years of war, Rainbow Dash is called in service of her country, but after the disappearance of her best friend, Applejack, she is reluctant to take on this mission. After thinking on the matter, the young girl accepts her assignment in hopes of finding her lost friend.
