Spike returns to Ponyville, as he has every year for the last few millennium. Unfortunately, this time something happens that threatens to make him do something disastrous for all the wrong reasons.

Twilight is busy dealing with the bureaucracy of being a princess. When Spike comes home though with a new chemistry set, will Twilight be able to pull herself away from her duties as a princess to help take care of her duties as a sister and a friend to Spike?

When their final plan has failed, what can the bearers of the Elements of Harmony do against an unspeakable evil who is holding all the cards?

All I do is wait, wait for you to grow up. When you have grown up, we can be together, and all these problems will evaporate. This is my mantra, it is what keeps me waiting for you, because I know that one day we will find happiness.

Spike awakens from a horrible nightmare. He goes to Twilight and tells her about it, asking for comfort in return. She gives him some motherly advice, and a little more than he bargained for.

It's been several weeks since Sludge's departure, and despite their relationship being stronger than ever, there are still some awkward moments as Twilight Sparkle and Spike adjust to finally figuring out what they are to each other.
But there are moments when that isn't an issue.
A rainy morning is one such moment.

After Twilight runs away from home and takes Spike with her, she finds a small town called Ponyville. Will she be able to stay there without anyone finding her?

After Princess Luna and Princess Cadence help Twilight clean up Ponyville from excessive dark magic, the both of them start to consider just how much Spike means to them.

When both princesses come to see themselves as aunts for Spike, they find themselves competing against each other for the little dragon's favor. To that end, they both plan a party for Spike and that includes getting Pinkie Pie involved.

Meanwhile, Spike has no clue what the princesses are getting up to, or why Pinkie Pie seems to be acting even crazier than usual. Will the stress of planing competing parties be too much for Pinkie and cause her to spill the beans? Or will Luna and Cadence be able to put aside their differences before then?

Dragons are feared creatures, portrayed as horrific monsters in every bedtime story that ponies have known from birth.

Spike is a dragon. And as time goes on, he grows more acutely aware of his monstrous side and wonders if the fabled beast is all he is meant to be.

His fears come to light one day while he his helping Rarity collect some gems. The two are attacked by a rogue Diamond Dog and Spike, acting in fear and anger, kills their attacker. Horrified at his actions, he flees into the Everfree Forest with the rest of the monsters. Now, it is up to Twilight and Rarity to find him and bring him back home, if they can prove to him that he is not the monster he believes himself to be.
