This story is a sequel to For Want of an Egg

Centuries ago, Princess Celestia stole a dragon's egg to fulfill a prophecy, and found it necessary to deal with the egg's mother to keep said prophecy from being compromised. But now that the prophecy has been fulfilled, and her time as a princess is over, Celestia decided that it was time for the truth to come out.

It was also time for Celestia to face the consequences of her actions.

In six years time, a group of six friends had been utterly broken and scared. Three wore scars on their bodies, one bored a scar on her soul, and two now lay dead. And after everything that had happened, after old wounds were reopened, deepened, and filled with salt; it appeared as though a third mare would join the two in death.

But then, she stepped out of the shadows.

"Do not be afraid, my little pony. . .no matter what happens. . .friendship will always be magic."

My own Alternate Ending to Friendship is Tragic. The original was written by Vermillon, but this ending was more inspired by the audio drama version by Scribbler Productions. Although, this ending can easily fit on either version.

Lawful Crane and his girlfriend Pearl Lane happen to be in town during Anon-a-Miss' reign of terror in Canterlot High. Crane, being a skilled detective, is easily able to determine that Sunset Shimmer is being framed. Having devoted his life to protecting the innocent and punishing the guilty, he decides to expose the true Anon-a-Miss as an invisible avenger known as The Shadow. Through the use of a mysterious hypnotic power he learned in the far East, he is able to cloud other people's minds so they cannot see him, rendering him invisible.

Soon, Anon-a-Miss will learn that the weed of crime bears a bitter fruit. . .
