After a long day of work, Applejack mourns her parents' passing.

"Oh come on, Applejack! Just one trip around the clouds! One!"

It's an invitation that Applejack has heard countless times. However, no matter how often Rainbow Dash bugs her to experience an air ride, the farm filly flat out refuses.

Then one afternoon, on a day when Applejack is strangely quiet and distant, she suddenly agrees to Rainbow Dash's persistent request. The pegasus happily oblidges, not knowing what has truly motivated Applejack to give in, nor the fact that--more than anything--Applejack could really use a good friend right about now.

Princess Twilight Sparkle has always liked to read. Much more than go outside that's for sure. But when her duties as a princess become more than just smiling and waving, the purple pony is having trouble finding time to just sit down and read. When her friend Rainbow Dash suggests a book to Twilight that she can't even read the title, Twilight refuses. Rainbow Dash is horror stuck by her friend. Twilight was the pony who showed Rainbow Dash the joys of reading, and Dash can't imagine what Twilight would be like without her books. But Rainbow Dash isn't giving up that easy! Now the athlete must show her friend that you can't judge a book by its cover, no matter how battered the book is.

Twilight looks up to the stars one night, while she thinks on her freinds and their relationships. When she thinks on her own, she feels only a storm of chaos. Can she resolve her uncertainty with her love?

While Pinkie lays sleeping, her worst fear takes the form of a nightmare, and Twilight is the only one who can comfort her.

Twilight is determined to show Pinkie how much she cares for her with her present, and hopes that Pinkie will do the same.
