Applejack has been in love with a certain pink mare with a puffy mane for quite a while now. Yes, She and Pinkie were inseparable. If you were to see Applejack, chances are that Pinkie was somewhere nearby. But something isn't right. Recently, Applejack has noticed some odd behavior from her pink lover. Distant gazes and unhappy faces when Pinkie thought that AJ wasn't looking have begun to make the southern mare ask questions. What is it that Pinkie Pie won't tell her?

This is my first attempt at a shipping story, as well as a sad fiction, so please do leave comments! This story may not update frequently, but if I can, I will try to at least get a chapter out here and there. I hope you enjoy it!

(This is a bit of an experiment based on the worldbuilding concepts presented in AnonAuthor's Xenophilia [[NSFW] - caveat lector!], which intrigued me enough to want to take a closer look. It's likely you'll be very confused by this unless you read at least some of Xenophilia. Updates will appear as and when an idea pops into my head for a thing to add. And fair warning, some of this might come across very dry and dusty. Thank you academia! It's been two months since Twilight and Big Macintosh started dating, and what a wonderful two months it's been. As their relationship blooms, Twilight finds out through Applejack that not all of the Apple family may be keen on a relationship that includes one of their own kin, and a unicorn. Worried about their future together, Twilight asks Big Macintosh for the biggest favor she can think of...to visit his entire family, and see if they can't break old traditions.

This is the sequel to Sparkling Cider, my first fan-fiction. It isn't necessary to have read Sparkling Cider to understand Old Traditions, but it certainly wouldn't hurt!

Princess Celestia is an ageless, immortal being. Almost entirely unique except for her sister Luna, and she was gone for a thousand years. One would assume that no other pony in the entire world could possibly be able to truly relate. One would be wrong. There is one other. He's no all-powerful alicorn. His greatest power is his intelligence. He comes and goes at will, but always seems to be there during her worst moment. Sometimes he has a different face. Once he was a unicorn. And at times, it seems she meets him out of order. But he's a fantastic friend. Simply fantastic.

*Note: Even more than "A Friend of the Night" this story is going to be more along the lines of a series of interconnected short stories. Some chapters might end up being a bit short as a result.*

A terrible epidemic sweeps through Ponyville, causing all it touches to fall into an endless slumber. Twilight enters the land of the dreamers to save her friends and all of Ponyville from an unkind fate while Pinkie recalls the events leading up to now.
