The story picks up after the episode "Simple Ways".

After his visit to Ponyville, Trenderhoof writes an article about the beauties of the humble village. He writes, in particular, about a certain mare, whom he had admired so much to the point that he wanted to move to the said village. Applejack reads this article and, touched by his words, decides to give the naive writer a second chance. However, she needs to do it without her friends, Rarity in particular, knowing.

One day, Applejack and Big McIntosh are alone in an orchard when Big Mac laments the problems of his love life. Then the conversation takes an odd turn, with big consequences for AJ and Big Mac's relationship.
