The song put me in the mind of a swift and passionate love that burns out quickly, a love doomed to fail from the start. And here it is.

Twilight Sparkle struggles to find a meaningful gift for Princess Celestia.

Twilight Sparkle finds herself spending time with a local pegasus from the weather team, and may be developing feelings for her.

But when they stumble across a relic of nightmares past, Twilight must learn to cope with distressing new urges, and keep her friends and the rest of Equestria in the dark...

Princess Celestia has invited Twilight to visit her in Canterlot to attend a royal banquet, and she is excited to see her beloved mentor again! When she arrives she is shown through the castle to see Celestia and notices majestic bouts of beautiful magic, namingly a gorgeous incantation that covers the ceilings of the mystic castle. The enchantment mesmerizes Twilight, and when the Princess of the Sun explains to her that it is her sister, Princess Luna's charm that inhabits the brilliant archways. After a delightful dinner with the princesses, Twilight spends time with Luna and is shown the secrets to the the magic of the Princess of the Night. It is a magical evening that brings the two closer than they would have ever imagined....

When an earth pony befriends a pegasus, there are some places they can't follow.

Twilight is dying and she knows it. On her final night, she makes her way to the balcony atop her Canterlot suite and shares her final moments with her wife, Luna. The Princess then recounts the events leading up to her and Twilight's eventual marriage and life together.

Growing up under Princess Celestia's wings has caused Twilight's respect and admiration for the ruling alicorn to grow into much more than that, but will Twilight ever have the courage to admit her feelings and overcome the obstacles they may face, or will she keep her feelings suppressed forever. Behind the scenes at the Grand Galloping Gala, she may just find out.

A/N: The second part I ended up adding to the ending in order to cannonize the fic more. Also, I know the opening is different from cannon, I'm aware of that, but it helps adhere to my story more. There is also a slight reference to Aurora's fimfic: Bechdel's Law, with their permission of course. This fic, however, is clop-free.
