After a day full of excitement, and a sleepover at Rainbow's, Scootaloo is brought above Canterlot to witness the princesses lower the moon and raise the sun. As Rainbow shares how she first came across the perfect vantage point, Scootaloo is yet again reminded of what she lacks. Her feelings, bottled-up throughout the years of frustration and envy, finally explode in a nervous breakdown.

It's up to Rainbow to remind the filly just how strong and awesome she really is.

Applejack is visiting her parents gravestone when she stumbles upon another young filly visiting her parents...

A cold gray day brings Applejack to her parent's graves. In the garden of stones she finds another who is still grieving. Scootaloo never wanted anypony to know how much pain she felt. The two learn that misery deserves company and the company is nice.

When Scootaloo tries to fly for the first time, she quickly learns that she was not ready and through a tragic mishap, breaks her wings beyond repair. Torn apart emotionally by the situation, Rainbow Dash steps in and takes care of her and vows to find a way to fix her broken wings.

Scootaloo is called into the office for the fourth time in half as many weeks. Miss Cheerilee's student has, out of nowhere, become something of a minor delinquent, and the teacher knows there's something wrong - but, unless Scootaloo decides to cooperate, she may find out that some ponies really do want to "take care of themselves."

As a filly, Scootaloo was always ashamed of never being able to fly like all the other pegasi could at her age. She hopes that maybe things will change and that she will finally be able to fly, but she soon realizes that not being able to fly isn't the only problem she's faced with.

Scootaloo is being picked on for not being able to fly and nobody is able to help her, not even her hero Rainbow Dash. Luckily for Scootaloo Twilight knows exactly what to do.
