Ever since the Best Young Fliers Competition, where Rainbow Dash bravely took her in her arms and saved her life, Rarity has been rather infatuated with the Pegasus, no matter how hard she may try to deny it to herself. When Rainbow Dash came around to have her Nightmare Night costume fixed Rarity's feeling rose to the surface once again. There and then she made a decision. No more hiding. No more secrets. Tonight was the night she would put everything on the line to steal Rainbow Dash's heart. While at the spa, Rarity encounters an unexpected pony working there. What is Rainbow Dash up to?

Who is that coming up from the wilderness,
leaning on her beloved?

Rarity is not whole. Her adventures have finally caught up to her, and after a daring rescue of her beloved Rainbow Dash, she finds herself at least temporarily crippled. Her doctors are baffled--raw magic poisoning of the magnitude she sustained is not exactly commonplace. But Rainbow is there for her, watching, worried, and hopeful. A Lady endures all things, after all, and Rarity is the epitome of a lady.

Sequel to Where the Sun is Silent, Catch For Us the Little Foxes, and Great Heart Will Not Be Denied. Knowledge of these is helpful, but not exactly required. The story is less about the continuity and more about Rarity and Dash.

A lot has happened to Rarity in the last few years. Engagement, new business, adventure, losing a limb. But with the last, she is done with adventure and with danger, or at least, done seeking it out. For Rarity, nothing seems safe anymore, and so when Rainbow has to help with a huge freak storm, Rarity is left alone in the dark.

The dark which she has learned to fear for wholly justified reasons.

Sometimes, heartache is a place, and you can leave it. But more often than not, it is both point and line, and though you leave injury behind you... you perhaps never truly are free. It lingers. Rainbow Dash learns this the hard way when Spitfire gives her free tickets to a Wonderbolts show in Cloudsdale as she's recovering from a terrible injury.

Rarity is the consummate Lady: she never goes back on her word, and she never complains to a customer. But this newest order has just been different and for the first time in a long, long time Rarity finds herself truly with empty hooves, with no creative energies to summon.

Some mild Raridash. Not really shipping, but sort of? Anyhow, I hope you enjoy! It was nice to write something after being sort of stuck myself.

Of course, things would be that little bit less exasperating if a certain pegasus pony wasn't so irritatingly laid-back about the whole thing. And for a connoisseur of quality and merit, there's a crime even worse than sunbathing while others are sweating over stitches…
