The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a now-famous tradition from ancient times that has been a huge part of Mexican Culture through the centuries. Like so many things in Mexico, it's influenced strongly by certain aspects of the Aztec people.
It has shaped the way those of us with that heritage look at life and death in many ways, and most importantly on the remembrance of, and honoring the deceased. We traditionally decorate little altars dedicated to the memories of those that passed away… but it's not a somber occasion.

Well. Don't log in. This is a scam, and a cheap one at that.
There've been recent attempts to obtain Fimfiction users’ personal data, like passwords and/or emails through links like the one I'm making fun of above. And a distressing amount of people don't seem to know what phishing attempts are.

It's 2013 now in the most important place in the world. Here look, I can confirm:

No doubt some people here will claim it's not 2013, but I'm the one with proof, so what do they know.

So, what's been the best part of 2012 for you guys, and what are you looking forward to in 2013? I think 2012 has been a great year for Fimfiction. We ended the year on a shaky note after my biggest update this year went a little wonky for a week or so, but I think the site is in a better place than ever, and we have much more clear direction where we want to go with Fimfiction over the coming few months.

I want to say thanks to a few people who have been pivotal in Fimfiction's upkeep this year; people who don't really get a lot of note.

Xaquseg: It's a safe bet to say that without Xaquseg, the site would not even be standing as it is. Xaq has been instrumental in making sure the server works, and without him I'd never have been able to move to the kind of setup we're on right now. So thanks for that Xaq, and for being an enormous amount of help with both the backend and frontend too, and for embaressing me with my lack of his kind of knowledge.

NTSTS, Poultron, Wanderer D and Wlah: My 4 trusty first line of defence. Wlah has been here since the start of Fimfiction, and was a key player in helping out early on, and has continued proof reading fics and passing on suggestions and ideas to myself. I'm sure I don't need to say anything about Poultron, but beyond what you see on the site, he's the guy who kicks me up the butt and makes me do things. NTSTS is the most recent addition to the team and has been a fantastic help in making the recent changes go smoothly. Wanderer D was added about half way through the year and his blog posts have become a key feature on the site. I picked him up after noting his useful contributions to the site right from the offset and I did not regret the decision at all.

Alexstrazsa, Blueshift, midnightshadow, Mystic, Seattle & Vimbert: These are the guys who make sure fics get moderated quickly. I want to thank all of them for doing a thankless job for me to make sure the site works.

RBDash47: Again, picked up this year. I noted his work on maintaining the fic vault and I thought it was a shame his work wasn't getting much notice. so I gave him the chance to post his entries on the Fimfiction frontpage and they've become a mainstay of the site too.
