Derpy is sick of pretending to be somepony she isn't. All she wants is to be left alone, to have a peaceful life with somepony she cares about.
When she catches the interest of the Outsider, a mysterious deity most often described as "part angel, part devil, and entirely ambiguous," she replaces one mask with another, and learns exactly how far a pony is willing to go to do the right thing- and how powerful the lure of power can be.

I don't mean to be cruel but perhaps you could modify dishonoreds lore to have the emperess have 2 bodyguards corvo and derpy and they were both imprisoned.

Corvo exists; just not in this particular incarnation of Dunwall.
This fic assumes a multitude of 'worlds' (perhaps an infinite number of them). When there are lots of worlds, there are probably lots of worlds that are very similar to one another, right?
We don't even know if this version of Dunwall really exists (that includes me- just because I know what's happening doesn't mean that I know for certain why things are happening, or indeed if they even are).
This fic also aims to see just what would happen if someone like Derpy (as I have characterized her, at least) were to assume the position and a very similar (but not exactly identical) set of circumstances.
