I must say that this was surprisingly well executed and very good read. Nice job.
I could not help but feel an ache in my gut throughout reading this entire thing, but it was still extremely well written. I am glad that, despite the punishment, the three cadets were still treated respectfully by their superiors.
This was difficult to read because of how much pain the cadets were put through. You wrote it well so that there was a lot of empathy for them. It was very plausible within the canon of Equestria. I'm sure Shining himself had to suffer at least one of these. He doesn't seem like the kind of personality that would simply be purely obedient all the time.
