The Pony of Shadows, locked up in Limbo again after being so rudely expelled from Stygian a literally unknowable amount of time ago, receives a visitor.
This was the only story entered in the 277th Writeoff contest, "Dancing Shadows," where it inspired the cover artwork created by GroaningGreyAgony. It also occurs to me that the story can serve as a prequel to a story over on my AugieDog account called "Shadow Heart."

That sprang out of Pony, things have really slowed down over there. The last two rounds I've entered, I was the only one. The poetry contests, actually, seem to get more folks participating than the fiction rounds...

For what its worth, things seem relatively vibrant. A few new faces, and loads of returns and the veterans. I don't think the fandoms dying, but yeah, a lot of folks have better things to do. Don't know when Knighty will squat down to pinch off this autistic log into the gaping maw of netdom, but I'll probably play this somewhere in response.

In any case, great stuff, both the double-edged sword of Stygian leaving his mark on the Pony of Shadows and Flurry’s incredible (and incredibly misguided) potential. Thank you for a wonderfully dramatic read.

Over on my AugieDog account with "Shadow Heart," and I'm a couple thousand words into a sequel to that that's scheduled to be called "Juggler Vain." So lots of Pony left for me to churn out, it looks like.
