Most likely Sparx, though hopefully less cowardly than Sparx was in "Legends". Perhaps/hopefully a hybrid of "Classic" Sparx (in terms of being more overall useful and actively helping out in adventures) and "Legends" (general wise-cracking)
Well, I have to admit that, thus far, this prologue looks to be rather intriguing. So, in this universe, purple alicorns are seen in a pretty similar light as purple dragons in the Legends era Spyro. And, yeah, really good showing of the situation that led to Twilight ending up in Ponyville as a baby to be raised by adopted parents/his canon parents (I'm going to guess Shining Armor is still going to be her [foster] older brother). I'm also going to guess that her foster family and Ponyville friends are going to help her learn to use unicorn magic, Pegasus magic AND earth pony magic before she learns assorted elemental spells.
All I can say is that while it's all right to follow the "Legend of Spyro" series to a certain extent, keep in mind that these ARE different characters, so feel free to make changes when they are appropriate (like for example, giving the characters an equal mix of their canon personalities and those of the characters they are portraying and assorted other touches to make this seem more like an equal mix of "Legend of Spyro" and G4 MLP [possibly some VERY minor elements of G5 if my hunch about the one in Malefor's role is correct]).
But, anyway, definitely looking forward to more of this.

Appreciate the description of how Spike was found and hatched at the same time Twilight was. Also really loved the description of the game the two were playing while they were indulging in sibling banter.

Excellent job on the action, exchanges and future chapter set-up here. So, Spike and Twilight had their first run-in with actual villains (seeming to be the Storm King's goons, which means he's probably going to be one of the main villains of the first story). And it looks like Twilight's magic gets stronger when she's motivated by protecting her loved ones, unless I miss my guess. And we will also find out more about this "Slash" as the adventure continues.
REALLY looking forward to more of this. I just hope Spike will get to be more useful in later fights than the actual Sparx. After all, he is closer to pony size than Sparx (well, pony child at this point, but the point still applies) AND actually does have a potential attack ability. In addition to dragons being stronger and tougher than most normal ponies their size.
Another well done chapter. REALLY liked the descriptions by Spike and Twilight concerning the events before Night Light and Velvet explained as much of the truth as they could. And now, their journey has OFFICIALLY begun.

Another really well done chapter. Now, Twilight and Spike had their first encounter with Celestia and Luna, who broke the news concerning the war and damage to the pair as they need to prepare to begin their big adventure.
Again, really looking forward to more of this.

In general, the whole story is almost a complete retelling of the game, but with some additions. for example, there are four guardians in the original: fire, lightning, ice and earth. There are eight guards here, but only six elements are named. It is also unclear what is the difference between the elements of the Earth and Nature.
I'll keep watching for now. but to be honest, there is little interest, considering how well I know the plot of the "New Beginning".

Specifically, this work is likely to retell only the "New Beginning". I think it will be a trilogy, just like the original.
Spyro and Cynder don't exist in this universe. Instead of them, here are Twilight and Slash.
I have a strong feeling that the work will end there.
