This story is a sequel to The Time Ponies and the Cutie Mark Thief Vs. the Queen of Hearts
After the events of the last book there were still a few loose ends, and now that they aren’t involved with a war Emerald wants to explore ancient ruins, Driver has personal affairs to fix, and Starlight needs to catch up on her friendship lessons.
But as life continues on, a sinister force is gathering in the shadows, ready to strike. Soon Equestria will be theirs, and this time nothing will stop them!
Yeah right, that’s what they all say. Still, I do hope they won’t do too much damage in their bid for conquest.
The stories are not in chronological order, though they all take place before the beginning of season 7.

Also, I liked how in the first section it was written in just the right way to make me think "hold on a second..." when Derpy was suddenly being incredibly good at beating up pirates, and then I realised what was happening after the line break.

That's perfect. Whenever I write a dream sequence, or any similar passage, I try to make it just off enough that it feels wrong, but not so obvious that the average reader figures it out before the reveal. It's like foreshadowing. You want it to be obvious in hindsight, but blend in on the first time through.
The party is passing by the outskirts of changeling territory...

I took a while to get myself to read this chapter, but it was quite good.
I made up my own tune for the song at first, then listened to the original song, and I got the tune a bit wrong. Oh well, can't win everything, can you?
"Yes, I have also missed myself. They were a wonderful conversation partner, you know." said the universe traveller, saddened at remembering the wonderful talks he had with the version of himself from a universe where they were nonbinary, but to which he cannot return because he accidentally did a social taboo and just can't bring himself to even look at that universe's coordinates ever again.
(I just thought it would be a funny joke comment to make.)

I'm glad you liked it. I guess I should add 'The main character is an inanimate object' to my list of personal writing habits.
It took me a little while to realise you mean the pov character was an actual tumbleweed and not in a metaphorical sense for some reason.
