UPDATE - On hiatus until January 2024
King Sombra the feared, hated, and reviled regent of the Crystal Empire has finally returned from his banishment at the hooves of Equestria’s ruling diarchs. He awakens to see that his empire has returned with him before he swiftly reconquers it to little resistance.
Without wasting much time he draws up plans to defend the empire, now safely back under his control, from its Equestrian neighbors to the south. And knowing Celestia and Luna he’s surprised that they have not already reacted to his empire’s re-emergence; however, he just brushes it off thinking himself lucky for their sloppiness. As he waits for the princesses' response it eventually becomes apparent that there won’t be one.
Confused, he begins using various methods to try and get in contact with Equestria. After many failed attempts and a worrying report from a border guards’ patrol he starts trying to get in touch with the other countries of the world only to receive nothing in return. Following an even more worrying report from a scouting mission to Equestria and the appearance of a mysterious plague that only seems to afflict the crystal ponies, Sombra is at wit's end.
Determined to find out what is going on outside his empire’s walls he puts his plans of war against and the conquering of Equestria aside and sets out on a mission. A mission that will soon lead him to find out that the world he and his empire have returned to is nothing like the one they left. And the answers Sombra seeks could threaten to destroy not only him, but the entirety of the world as well.
Something has happened while they were gone, something sinister…

Esta historia empezó bien, pero me pregunto dos cosas, primero, King Sombra será un Anti héroe? Segundo y más importante, estas pensando en incluir un multiverso? Porque si todo lo demás en equis está muerto, es casi imposible mantenerse en ese mundo y aunque se que sombra es uno de los seres en FIM más inteligentes y astutos, es solo un pony (muy loco) y no creo que sea suficiente como para mantener tanto tiempo el imperio de cristal oscuro de una u otra forma sombra deberá agarrar su imperio y largarse de allí
Interested to see where this goes be interesting if things are so bad sombra end up being the good guy in comparison to what happened to the world

I'm not going to spoil what he will become, but I will say that while he'll start off a bit more cocky and arrogant he'll be very quickly given an ego check. So how he starts out here is not how he'll be at the end of the story. TLDR: He's going to be more like season 3/5/comics Sombra for a decent chunk of the story.

Sombra's method of governing is too low.
His rule was based on military victory, and he relied on deterrence to overcome all injustice and tyranny.If he fails in the war, he will be finished if he loses his national foundation.
Must change this method, such as claiming that there are wolves outside, so that the national consciousness can not live without the king, they will naturally support you.
The economy must be controlled, and all facilities related to people's livelihood must be personally intervened by the king. So that the people can not organize, must know that there is a king, they can live a normal life.
Ordinary people never care what you are, he only cares if you can make him live a good life, at least not a bad life.

I haven't had a chance to get very far into the story yet, but as long as there is still rain, with a city full of people, he has the ability to restart the world. There are enough people to repopulate without the problems from inbreeding. And he should have enough from farms and city trees, bushes, etc, to regrow the land around them. It all boils down to wind and water. Mainly rainfall.
