Great job on this prologue. Admittedly, I've only HEARD OF "the Dresden Files", but what I've heard about it definitely makes me interested in this story. Really liked Twilight reflecting on certain things in her life, the difference between a "dragon" and a "Dragon" and the bits of bad luck that make sense for a cross between early days Twilight and the Dresden Files. Also liked the advertisement for her "paranormal detective" business. Though the "No Parties" thing tells me she and Pinkie Pie are on nowhere near as good of terms in this universe as their canon counterparts.
Anyway, certainly looking forward to more of this.

As for the unicorn horn thing, First estimation of construction requires ten million holograms, one every 3 seconds for a year, to make a 2/3 inch diameter horm to atomic presicion. Which wont work as expected because a living horn is laid down in a dynamic living magical field, which makes the complexity of the hologram look like a pencil stick figure on a cheap paper napkin.
Simpler? Horns are four dimentional holograms that generate 5 dimentional energy forms. If you want any more details, ask Pinkie.
A very nice Dresden aligned verse. the horror suffusing the work in that, so far, its just the far side of being real.

I would have thought she would have summoned something to either help with the case or help with the vampire but whatever.
REALLY good job on the next six chapters. I mean, holy moley. Getting six new chapters up in one day could not have been easy. But, anyway, very good job on the exchanges, characterizations, action set-up and universe explanations in all the right places. I especially appreciated the chapter explaining Twilight's full name in this universe as well as her issues with Celestia, the description of the seven laws of magic, the way the magic works for unicorns, pegasi and Earth ponies, the run-in with that vampire and Twilight explaining about how the best ways to fight a vampire involve either fire magic (which she doesn't know yet) or guns with specialized ammunition.
VERY certainly looking forward to more of this.

Well, the latter could be why it would literally take a Love Demigoddess to satisfy Shining. Cadance is probably one of the comparatively few mares who has the stamina to keep up with him and enough energy for him to keep feeding off her (entirely with her own knowledge and permission) without needing to hurt anybody. :-D
Of course, one has to wonder what variety of Succubus/Incubus a CHANGELING would be.
All I can say is very good job on this latest chapter. Definitely appreciated the work that went into the exchange, characterizations and future chapter set-up in all the right places. VERY MUCH appreciated Twilight setting up those "chime alarms" and giving that note to Spike about using his flame breath on any uninvited company while she was away before she went to talk to Applejack (and the reflection on both AJ AND Fluttershy). Definitely liked how she acknowledged that anything more than a couple of days would require more explanation than a flimsy excuse. Also REALLY enjoyed the description of her first meeting with Rarity in this universe too.

The MLP Changelings would be basically one of the evil Fae, what with the bug theme, the seduction and feeding on love,
Queen Cheese whole thing would be to test love and find it wanting. Her counterpart would be Cadance who is not Twilight fairy Godmother but used to be Twilight babysitter and is dating Twilight White court Vampire brother.
I can see Queen Chrysalis being both nicer and meaner that her show counterpart. For one she wouldn't hurt or kill kids, on another the only reason she exists is to test love, to tempt you away, to ruin relationships.
Also she actually doesn't want Cadance to die as that would mean she would be cursed to replace her if she had anything to do with it. Hence why her plan was just to seal Cadance away.

Of course, that is just saying how crazy the Joker is and isn't an excuse for that sort of behavior.

Certainly understood Rarity trying to make conversation, though I can understand why Twi would be of the Properly Paranoid mindset here by NOT trying to give her any information she could use later AND by not accepting any of the offered food or drink. Of course, I don't know who it be worse to get on the wrong side of - a mobster who MIGHT be a vampire or a paranormal private investigator who believes in being prepared.

Really appreciated the processing on the suspects in the case (though, I have to say, in mysteries like this, it is almost always the ones that you would LEAST suspect [unless you were absurdly Genre Savvy of course]) as well as reasoning why the quieter of the suspects seems like the less likely (even if the genre is telling me that they probably have A LOT more resources than they want their competition to think) and how that other farm is offering more than Sweet Apple Acres is worth (not an insult to the land as it is quite expensive, but very unlikely for that sort of offered money to turn a profit without some extremely shady side businesses. But then, people blow tens of millions of dollars on political campaigns to get jobs that legally only pay a few hundred thousand a year in real life too). And, yeah, the considering of the Red Court vampires and the assorted motives, in addition to the added information concerning the council keeping a semi-tight lid on magic and its full potential, were also great pieces of information.

Honesty this is the weakest part of the crossover since as far as most ponies know unicorns already use some sort of magic. For a wizard it may be very limited but for most ponies? Is still magic. Even more so for non ponies that cannot do it.

Yeah. That's a pretty valid point. My guess here is that, well, it's more along the lines of keeping magic's FULL POTENTIAL a secret to either avoid an unnecessary panic or to prevent giving the wrong sort of individuals bad ideas.
For example, basic levitation, flight and increased strength and speed are all good and well and certainly well within the bounds of what is allowed to be known, but if it were common knowledge that time travel, mind control and other stuff was possible (though extremely difficult and even more extremely unethical), that would be extremely bad news. Some madpony clamoring for world power would stop at nothing to find ways to obtain those secrets.
