Cernunnos married a woman named Orla. Orla was the only person Cernunnos entrusted with his horses. She was said to have magic powers and be able to heal and tame any horse. She was even said to have healed a horse’s broken leg. Even in modern day Equestria, a broken leg has to be amputated, and this was middle ages Ireland. Given what Anzhong said about the dying out, she could’ve legitimately had magic, or it could’ve just been oldtimie propaganda. She was a daughter of that area’s lord.

Considering healing magic, I find it doubtful then modern equestrians would have their legs amputated if broken

I wouldn't consider her to be aggressive but rather scared. From her perspective, the, at the time, second most powerful being in Equestria had broken in, most likely stole something, and was now ready to kill. She was trying to stop Equestria's most wanted fugitive and prevent any more of her guards from getting killed.
Oh, I should also add, that's only how Sunset preserves her to be acting.

Maybe, but I based it on real life horses, and their legs don't just break; they completely shatter. They can be fixed, but that's expensive, very time consuming for both parties, and the leg won't work the same ever again. Because of all that and auras allowing prosthetics to be moved like the original, it would be easier and cheaper to just amputate and replace a broken limb.
