Pippington Britishhooves

Those who can read and write hold the key to knowledge and the process of thought. For some reason, I have chosen to use this gift to write about fictional cartoon ponies instead of important stuff.

This story is a sequel to The Great Equestrian Administrative Renaissance (or "Twilight Sparkle realises some rather obvious things which were previously elusive")

The School of Friendship has codified and formalised an education of friendship and its properties, allowing for a much more efficient and entertaining way of spreading its magic to the inhabitants of Equestria, and enabling those outside the borders of the kingdom to learn and expand their horizons. The Princess of Friendship herself has managed to foster strong bonds among nations, developing peace, harmony, and prosperity not only for ponies, but for as many creatures as are willing to engage in her dream of a better tomorrow.

But part of living is learning, and that means changing from a position of ignorance to one of enlightenment. That process can be a risk, particularly if the process required for learning is confronting someone's ignorance and presenting them with an opposing point of view. When the opposing point of view comes from someone else's ignorance, sparks can fly.

Inspired by this humorous piece and written as a spiritual sequel to one of my own fics, being set in the same timeline. No additional reading is required to understand this story, though.

Please, ladies and gentlemen, accept this as the joke as which it is written, and don't think I'm trying to write a thesis on any genuine issue. It's some fun writing poking fun at things we've probably all encountered in life, not a rallying cry. There is no hidden message, other than that we can talk and laugh together without falling out.

Oh shit, I inspired someone to write lol.

Dream come true right there XD

This was a fun read.

Whoa, whoa, hey! This is the internet! There is no room for all this "rational discourse" and "poking fun at ourselves!" Here, all we do is see everything as an attack and flail about like epileptic monkeys when someone doesn't share our exact worldview!

Nice use of defenstrate one rarely has chances to use words with such specific situational meanings as "to be thrown out a window".
Cross species politics ouch now there is a topic to enflame emotions. Also Yona admitting Yaks are not best at something? That's real growth.

Libertarian Gallus is my new favorite headcanon. Fun read!

This is why I love this fandom ! a cute story about social economic structures and their impacts in society and throwing your friends through windows .
it only lacked the Monty python quotes about strange alicorns lying in ponds is not a legit form of government .

"Who are you?"
"I am Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship and Guardian of Harmony, Ruler of Ponies."
"Who are the ponies?"
"Well we all are. We are all ponies. And I am your princess."
"Well I didn't vote for you."
"You don't vote for a princess!"

"Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"

This is automatically one of my favorite Student Six stories. I never considered the idea of them all having differing political views. That idea is handled brilliantly here, with everyone being in character and nobody feeling like a strawman. There is nuance and depth and emotion to every character. I feel that, if the show were for a more mature audience, this could very well have been an actual episode.

10/10.

Thanks very much! I tried to give as much of a fair representation as I could, and aimed to make all of them believable in their views. I added some level of strawmanning simply to show how others view other people, but I kept that obvious (I hope) for comedy's sake and as part of the characters themselves, since no one is perfect. I'm happy it worked, rather than enraging everyone.

Yona makes Yakyakistan sound like the Soviet Union if communism actually worked the way it was supposed to

When working out each of their stances for this story, I thought about what made sense from what we see of their societies in the show, and the cultures that inspired them. The Yaks are shown to be tribal but rather insular, so I couldn't go down the imperialistic path of the Huns, and the "peace and love and nature" route was already taken by the Changelings. They're not very spiritual either, but they do seem to have strong community bonds and values, so I aimed for communitarianism, and threw in the Marxist slant so I could add wacky shennanigans and that pun about demolishing private property.

Maybe I should do a behind the scenes on all of these. :moustache:

i gotta say this is a very well thought out story with very convincing points if i can throw in my two bits at the end

"Problems not going to be fixed by compromise!" Yona declared, her voice carrying through the room. "Put community first, end conflict!"

"No, we need to let individuals be free and leave them alone!" Gallus insisted.

"We need to help other creatures, dude!" Sandbar cut in.

"Creatures need to help themselves!" Smolder hissed.

"Please can we find a peaceful way to resolve this?" Ocellus asked,

yes, yona, community is important, but are creatures not entitled to something of their own? after all . man without property IS property, ask the soviets

and gallus, we do need to keep our nose out of the individual, but does the law not apply in their lives at all? i mean suppose a rape or murder happens, you'll need interference then.

now sandbar, its admirable you want to help every creature, but as fluttershy once learned, too much help can keep someone from reaching their potential, shouldn't government act as a leg up instead of a leg down?

smolder, your ideas of the strong surviving is a good model, and yet, with all those gems, is there not a responsibility to help those who may be less fortunate? put yourself in their shoes before making any broad statements

as for silverstream, your idea of isolationism helps for a little while, but, does that isolationism not limit your potential as a nation? it may have worked for years but you can't deny it was lonely

and ocellus, your cry for peace is much needed in a world such as this, but, is there not a time where peace has been tried and has failed, and we must resort to war? especially when some creatures idea of peacekeeping is grade school level

my theory is that all six students had a piece of the puzzle, but none could make it fit, it's only when we agree to listen and open ourselves to new ideas, that we can finish the puzzle piece

on that note, here's a video relating to what i'm saying, a film wich i believe should be played in every school in the nation, AND THE WORLD!

yeah, that's called capitalism
