F.U. Shining Armor. That is a dick move and I hope Mortal Rage will one day dispise you for this.

Sad to see this event and I am glad to know that Cadance and Doug do feel better about all of this in the future.

I can actually see his pov here. Imagine your wife’s dying and the only way to save her is for gary stu who’s bedded every important female in the country to come in and have sex with her, especially knowing they at least thought of hooking up in the past. The thought of not being good enough to save your wife but (at least in his mind) his wife’s ‘the one who got away’ dude’s dyay can. I can give him a lot of leeway in an emotionally charged situation like this.

Then again, I did see the cuckhold tag in the description so I should have expected this.

This, especially the 'not being good enough' part was what I was going for. I should have cut other parts to include more of this reaction, but I was running into the 10k word limit something fierce. Alas; perhaps when it comes up in the main story it will be more fleshed out, and we'll hear more than just Cadance's thoughts.

Yikes....Mortal Rage. What a name.

Lord of Celebration mentions Rage and I remember seeing the word Mortal. But I had no idea Mortal was a name.

I worry what Mortal Rage may go through when/if the story of what happened comes out.

I just hope that Mortal Grief, Mortal Ignorance, and Mortal Hope have a far less dramatic birth.

I wouldn't exactly call him a "Gary Stu" in this instance. True, he has bedded almost every important female in the country. And as the protagonist, he more than likely possesses the power of plot. However, the term "Gary Stu" -- along with its original counterpart "Mary Sue" -- implies that the character himself is completely overpowered. Baring certain scenarios, like when he almost destroyed Equestria, Doug is a completely normal (non-magical) human. He can't fly, can't cast magic, can't commune with the earth around him, can't shapeshift, can't breathe fire...etc. Ultimately, as Shining just showed, Doug can be and is vulnerable to a lot of beings in Equestria and beyond. In my opinion, a real Gary Stu would have been able to either shrug off Shining's attack, or counterattack.
